Deadpool movie review: origin story with a potty mouth

6 hours ago | www.flickfilosopher.com | See recent FlickFilosopher news »

Callous, crass, unpleasantly smug. Supposes it’s being edgy because its protagonist swears a lot, but it’s like a child saying bad words just to be naughty. I’m “biast” (pro): nothing

I’m “biast” (con): nothing

(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)

The more I think about this movie, the more I dislike it. And I only just saw it last night, less than 24 hours ago. Gimme a few more days, and who knows how much I’ll hate it. Maybe this is the sort of movie people are referring to when they say you need to switch your brain off to enjoy it. “Don’t think about Deadpool too much! You’ll ruin it for yourself.”

This is not the sort of recommendation I will ever give a film.

The opening credits of Deadpool are pretty darn brilliant, and you don’t »

'Preacher' TV Series Gets Jackie Earle Haley as a Meat-Loving Villain

8 hours ago | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Back in September, AMC handed out a 10-episode series order for the comic book adaptation Preacher, with executive producer Seth Rogen teasing that the series will debut in May 2016. While he recanted that statement about the premiere date shortly thereafter, the series is set to arrive sometime this year, and today we have word from The Hollywood Reporter that the series has added Jackie Earle Haley to play a major character from the original comic books, Odin Quincannon. The actor has been set for a six-episode arc in the series.

In the original comic book created by Garth Ennis and Steven Dillon, Odin Quincannon is a member of the local Ku Klux Klan branch, who often clashes with lead character Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper). Jesse eventually discovers that Odin has been having sex with a mannequin made out of meat. In the series, he's described as a small, decrepit man »

Here's How 'It's Always Sunny' Almost Killed Danny DeVito

3 February 2016 9:33 AM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Anyone who watches It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia on a regular basis knows that Danny DeVito's Frank Reynolds has gone through some hard knocks. And every season, the gang almost does him in with their shenanigans. The show's unprecedented Season 11 just launched a few weeks back. And as star Charlie Day tells it, it was almost the last for poor Danny DeVito.

Danny DeVito is in his early 70s, but that doesn't stop him from participating in the outlandish behavior that a show like It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia requires. He is usually game to participate in whatever stunt the gang asks of him. But one of these incidents got a little out of hand, and the legendary sitcom and movie actor almost drowned. Charlie Day recounted the harrowing moments on set to Conan O'Brien earlier this week. Here's what happened.&#160

Bill Hader, Zach Galifianakis and Seth Rogen are to star in new sci-fi comedy The Something. Details right here...

Seth Rogen is heading to cinemas again in a couple of months in the sequel to Bad Neighbours (as it's known in the UK. It's Neighbors in the UK). Bad Neighbours 2 is scheduled to land over here on Friday May 6th.

He's already eyeing another comedy project though, this one coming with a science fiction tinge. The Something will follow a group of male astronauts who had been stuck in space for many years, who discover another ship. The other astronauts are set to be played by Bill Hader and Zack Galifianakis.

Rogen is producing this one too, and it's been penned by Rodney Rothman, who worked on the screenplay for 22 Jump Street. Furthermore, Rothman is set to make his directorial debut with the movie.

New Angry Birds Trailer Reminds You This Movie is Really Happening

27 January 2016 1:45 PM, PST | Cinelinx | See recent Cinelinx news »

Sony Pictures animation has dropped a brand new trailer for the Angry Birds movie, showing off more story details and the dastardly plot of the piggies.  Yes...this movie is very real and actually going to come out.

While I love Angry Birds as a game and continue to play through its many iterations, it feels like the time for a movie has certainly passed.  Rovio's own Angry Bird Toons animation shorts are surprisingly hilarious and capture the fun and ridiculous nature of the premise...None of which I've seen in the movie so far.

I'm not trying to say the movie looks horrible.  It has some funny moments in the trailer (along with some ridiculously childish ones that will likely annoy more than anything), but it still feels out of place and like something that should have been done much sooner to feel relevant.  I don't, perhaps I'm being too harsh? »

Tensions Boil Over In New Trailer For Sony’s Angry Birds Movie

27 January 2016 6:54 AM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Jason Sudeikis (Horrible Bosses) has a temper problem in the first full-length trailer for Sony’s upcoming Angry Birds animation, which seeds the origins story behind the seemingly never-ending conflict between those dastardly pigs and the titular avians that has captured the imagination of an entire generation.

Leaping from touch screen to silver screen in May of this year, animation newcomers Fergal Reilly and Clay Kaytis are the directors tasked with lending personality to those temperamental – and, crucially, flightless – birds, who have grown into an undisputed global phenomenon with close to 2 billion downloads of the title game across numerous platforms.

But success in one medium doesn’t necessarily guarantee a sure-fire hit in another; outside of the relatively popular Angry Birds Toons, this is the first time that Rovio’s mobile juggernaut will be moulded into a tangible story, replete with narrative and an impressive voice cast. The big budget animated Angry Birds movie lands in May - and here's the new trailer...

Duncan Jones' Warcraft movie may be the leading candidate to properly break the curse of the videogame movie. The theory runs that there's never been a very good film based on a game, even though there's been no shortage of attempts.

However, flinging into cinemas before Warcraft is another big game adaptation, Angry Birds. The hugely successful mobile game has been turned into a big animated movie from Sony Pictures Animation. Clay Kaytis and Fergal Reilly have directed the film, which is scheduled for release in the UK on Friday May 13th (a week before it lands in the Us).

A new trailer and synopsis for the movie have been released overnight, so we'll do them in order.
