Seth Rogen Reveals a 'Jersey Shore' Catchphrase Came From 'Superbad,' Shares More Fun Facts as Film Turns 10

18 August 2017 2:55 PM, PDT | Entertainment Tonight | See recent Entertainment Tonight news »

Seth Rogen may not have starred on Jersey Shore, but he sure did inspire the Seaside Heights gang!

The 35-year-old Canadian actor had some fun tweeting out facts about Superbad on Thursday to celebrate the beloved comedy's 10th anniversary, and there was one in particular that caught fans' attention.

Watch: 'Jersey Shore' Stars Jam Out to Show's Old Theme Song!

Buried deep down on his list of factoids was this key piece of (Nsfw) knowledge: "The cast of Jersey Shore confirmed to me that the phrase "D.T.F" or "Down To F**k" is from Superbad."

We were hoping we had somehow forgotten that "Gtl" had originated with Jonah Hill and Michael Cera, but here we are.

The Neighbors 2 star provided many more tidbits, including where you can spot Danny McBride and who inspired some of the movie's raunchiest jokes:

New sci-fi horror comedy Ghosted will be in part an homage to the buddy comedies of the 80s, writer and Ep Kevin Etten said during a panel at Fox’s TCA. “It’s things like Lethal Weapon, Beverly Hills Cop,” Etten said. “Then we were influenced by recent movies like This is the End. ‘Goon’ sequel finally pucks it into UK cinemas!

31 July 2017 5:01 AM, PDT | Blogomatic3000 | See recent Blogomatic3000 news »

Seann William Scott returns in Goon: Last of the Enforcers the cartilage crunching sequel to the 2011 hockey comedy Goon, a follow-up that’s even “faster, funnier and more foul-mouthed than the original.”

Back as  hockey star Doug Glatt, Scott is supported here with cast that includes Liev Schreiber (Spotlight) and Alison Pill (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World), reprising their roles from the first film, Elisha Cuthbert (24) and Callum Keith Rennie (Californication), with 22 Jump Street’s Wyatt Russell as Glatt’s nemesis, and Deadpool’s T. J. Miller on scene-stealing form as inappropriate sports commentator Chad Bailey.

From the press release:

An assured feature directing debut from comedy star Jay Baruchel (This Is The End, Knocked Up, How To Train Your Dragon), this is a film you can’t help but love – crass but charming, packed with eccentric and loveable characters, and just the right balance of sports carnage and comedy »

The Big Sick movie review: girlfriend in a coma, the rom-com

28 July 2017 7:23 AM, PDT | www.flickfilosopher.com | See recent FlickFilosopher news »

MaryAnn’s quick take… A rom-com for people who hate rom-coms. A painfully funny movie, full of enrapturing emotion that captures the glorious contradictions of all kinds of love. I’m “biast” (pro): nothing

I’m “biast” (con): not a fan of romantic comedies

(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)

How many ways can a movie be spoiled by its own mere existence so that it’s ruined before you even see it? We now know that it’s more than the many ways in which The Big Sick spoils itself, because its multiply-foregone conclusion does not hinder its amusements, lessen its drama, or take away from its big, big, all-enrapturing emotion. It’s kind of amazing.

The Big Sick is the basically-true, just-a-little-bit-fictionalized story of the relationship between actor and comedian Kumail Nanjiani (Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, Goosebumps) and writer and producer Emily V. Gordon, »

New ‘Preacher’ Season 2 Trailer: “I’m Here To Kill A Man”

21 July 2017 5:48 PM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

“Preacher” may not have much to do with its originators much anymore — “from the guys that brought you ‘This Is The End‘ and ‘Sausage Party‘ and the co-executive producer of “Breaking Bad“– but the show is still touting their names. Perhaps it’s because “Preacher” is a modest show for AMC and not a big player in their portfolio.

5 Amazing New Genre Films Under 10 Minutes Long — Fantasia 2017

15 July 2017 7:00 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

We’re living in a golden age of genre films, and there may be no better proof than the Fantasia International Film Festival, the three-week-long celebration of international genre efforts currently in the midst of its 21st year. The lineup is comprised of more than 150 features from all over the world, but that figure is dwarfed by the 300 short films showing across multiple sections. Too often, shorts are marginalized at film festivals, lumped into categories that designate them as calling cards for features and nothing more. Not so at Fantasia, where a number of the shorts showcase the precise visions of filmmakers looking to shock, frighten and unsettle audiences with concise approaches that hardly demand the padding of a feature-length running time.

Fantasia’s programming stands out from other genre festivals in that it doesn’t exclusively focus on outrageous horror movies, B-grade science fiction, or other stereotypes associated with the term “genre. »

11 Questions: Craig Robinson fears his end will involve a global cockroach takeover

In 11 Questions, The A.V. Club asks interesting people 11 interesting questions—and then asks them to suggest one for our next interviewee.

Chicago native Craig Robinson first made a name for himself as Darryl on the American version of The Office. Since then he’s become a popular fixture in ensemble comedies like This Is The End and the Hot Tub Time Machine series. On the small screen, he’s shown up everywhere from Eastbound & Down to Brooklyn Nine-Nine and the sci-fi series Mr. Robot, as a deceptively friendly neighbor. His latest movie, out this summer, is a caper comedy called Austin Found with Linda Cardellini and Skeet Ulrich. Robinson took a few minutes between his many gigs to go through our 11 Questions, and we have to say, we don’t know anyone else who has given these questions so much thought, sometimes mulling them over »

The Complete Peanuts, 1999 to 2000 by Charles M. Schulz

7 July 2017 4:59 AM, PDT | Comicmix.com | See recent Comicmix news »

This is the end; this is not the end.

This volume finishes up Fantagraphics’ decade-plus reprint project covering the entirety of Charles M. Schulz’s fifty-year run on Peanuts, with the last full year of strips and the few in early 2000 that Schulz completed before his health-forced retirement and nearly simultaneous death. (Sunday strips are done six to eight weeks early; his last strip appeared on the Sunday morning of February 13, and he died the evening before, in one of the most perfectly sad moments of timing ever.)

So that’s the end.

It’s also the beginning: also included in this book are all of the Li’l Folks strips that Schulz created for the St. Paul Pioneer Press from 1947 through early 1950, and which he eventually quit when his attempts to move it forward were turned down, freeing him to rework much of these ideas (and even specific gags) into what would become Peanuts. »

Watch a McLovin Super Fan Get the Ultimate Superbad Surprise

McLovin may be a dumb made up name, but ten years removed from Superbad, people still really connect to the character that was brought to life by Christopher Mintz-Plasse. What was his very first movie role went on to become one of the most iconic characters from a modern comedy. So much so that fans will print out McLovin signs at music festivals to carry around. But what happens when the actor who actually played McLovin shows up and sees the person carrying that sign? Wonder no longer. It happened.

Daily Mail was able to capture the pretty priceless moment. Superbad star Christopher Mintz-Plasse, who brought Fogel, aka McLovin, to life, was attending a festival and enjoying himself. He was sporting a tank top, beard, cap and sunglasses, so he was pretty unrecognizable. That's what made it so great when he approached a fan who made a McLovin sign, which »
