The perfect example of an okay movie
22 February 2015 | by (Berlin, Germany) – See all my reviews

Angelo Colagrossi has worked with Hape Kerkeling on movies since 1993 already and this is one of their most recent projects. Kerkeling does not play the main character but keeps appearing as some of his favorite costume characters throughout the entire film. Sometimes he is funny, sometimes not, but he is almost always weird, especially when he plays women. "Ein Mann, ein Fjord!" was actually released the very same year the Horst Schlämmer movie came out. However, the latter was for cinema and this one here was for television.

Tarrach plays the male lead, Sarnau the female lead. Olga von Luckwald plays the daughter. Solid job given this was her first role and she has acted in all kinds of productions since then in the last 5 years. My favorite parts from this film were how Ute seems to get younger and younger during their journey and also the woman who keeps running into Tarrach's character again and again. When she sees him at the ship and screams, it's pretty hilarious. Schlämmer is kinda funny too, but also somehow tragic. All the mix-up situations with the fake names were quite funny as well. The one character that i could have done without is the young Norwegian with his cards. He got repetitive pretty quickly.

Anyway, as a whole, it is a pretty decent road movie, not a must-see by any means, but still better than many other German productions, especially in the comedy genre. The humor is also fairly harmless, so that this film is also quite suitable for younger audiences. The script is not too realistic and there may be one coincidence too many here and there, but you can forgive the filmmakers for that I think.
