Storyline

Divided by the stunning and vast expanse of water that is London's River Thames, a young pair of shy beachcombers are united by their fixation with metal detecting in search of rare antiquities. They soon strike up a sweet and unique connection across the water and build up a language of signs and signals with which they are able communicate daily, but when one of the pair stumbles across a chance discovery, it finally gives them the ideal opportunity to cross over the river. The Beachcombers is a quirky, heart-warming tale of friendship and love, set against the backdrop of modern day London. Written by Mark Beynon

Feel Good But Not Much Else
10 July 2013 | by (Isle Of Bute , Scotland) – See all my reviews

A young man working in an office spends his spare time combing the shores of the Thames with a metal detector . One day he notices a young woman on the opposite bank . The next time he visits the spot he notices her again . Is love in the air ?

THE BEACHCOMBERS is a short film directed by Mark Benyon and Chris Coucher . It contains no dialogue and centres around two nameless protagonists one male and one female and being of two different sexes you just realise that the whole story hangs on them getting together

There's not a lot to the story but it's fairly pointless to complain about this . What the production team and the two cast members do succeed in is getting a story of love out of the unromantic location that is London which in some ways is a minor miracle . Some people might complain the story might have done with a little bit more but people can make up their own minds
