Storyline

Dexter's relationship with Miguel Prado reaches a new level when he not only identifies the next victim but tells Dexter that he will kill him. Dexter knows he should probably bring this to an end asap, but he's enjoying himself teaching Miguel the ropes. Debra spends the night with Anton, her confidential informant and learns from Joey Quinn that he's never been officially a CI. She tells Anton the good news but he then vanishes. Lt. Laguerta and her friend Ellen Wolf attend a police function together. Rita 's hormones are in full tilt and everyone around her is paying the price. Written by garykmcd

Trivia

During filming, Jimmy Smits accidentally picked up a real knife that had been left on set instead of a prop knife and stabbed stuntman Jeff Chase in the heart. Miraculously, Smits hit a small plastic cover that had been affixed to Chase, and Chase was badly bruised but otherwise uninjured. Chase later noted that they had done 10 takes of the scene--where his character was tied up and about to be killed Dexter-style by Smits' Miguel Prado--and Smits had only hit his mark with the prop knife in two of them. Dexter Morgan: [narrating] It's said that everything is connected to everything. The Butterfly Effect. You drop a pebble into a pond, and the ripples radiate outwards, touching and affecting everything. Until finally a fish grows arms and legs and crawls out of the water. And picks up a rock and smashes the next two fish over the head. And we have the first serial killer.

Another Great Episode!
5 November 2014 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

This is the eighth episode of the third season of Dexter and it's one tense, moving episode. This episode clearly defines the struggles that Dexter is having with himself as he is sharing Harry's code for the first time, perhaps to some dire consequences. We can clearly see the relationship between Prado and Dexter at the highest point, but there is something in this episode that stuff is going to going down really soon.

In this episode, "The Damage a Man Can Do," Dexter and Miguel head out on their first kill together as partners. Rita's hormones are acting up and is taking it out on everyone. Debra and Anton are now together and Debra learns from Quinn that Anton was never a CI. Eventually, Anton goes missing and Miguel Prado is planning on paying his nemesis a visit.

Overall, this is a very great episode and is one of the best episodes this season. It seems like it's a gateway between the beginning of the season to the next three episodes. So like always, the end of the season is going to be a treat to watch. I rate this episode 9/10.
