Quantum Mechanix releases Harley Quinn Q-Fig from Suicide Squad

15 hours ago | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Quantum Mechanix has announced the release of its chibi-style Harley Quinn Q-Fig from this year’s DC supervillain ensemble Suicide Squad, which is available to purchase now via the QMx website, priced $14.95.

It feels good to be bad…Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

Gorssing another $4 million from this weekend, Suicide Squad has now passed both Captain America: The Winter Solider ($714 million) and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 ($708 million) at the global box office. The bad-guy-team-up now sits at $718 million worldwide.

James Cameron's Alita: Battle Angel Adds Watchmen's Jackie Earle Haley As A Cyborg Villain

14 September 2016 2:48 PM, PDT | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

Jackie Earle Haley seems to be establishing himself as something of a geek icon. Having first growled his way into our hearts as Rorschach in Zack Snyder's Watchmen, he went on to appear in the likes of the Robocop remake, Preacher and The Tick, and has booked roles in future projects such as The Dark Tower. Now, we can add another well-loved adaptation to the list. THR reports that Haley will play the villain in the James Cameron-produced Alita: Battle Angel, which will be helmed by Sin City director Robert Rodriguez. No character identity has been specified yet, but sources indicate he'll be portraying "a monstrous cyborg in a villain role that will call for plenty of CG and greenscreen." Chances are that's going to be Alita's first significant adversary, Makaku, but there are several possibilities. Alita: Battle Angel is set to commence production in Austin next month, »

David Ayer wanted to cast Shia Labeouf in Suicide Squad, but Warner Bros. thought he was too crazy

6 September 2016 3:00 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

During an interview with Variety, Shia Labeouf has revealed that his Fury director David Ayer hoped to cast him in Suicide Squad in the role of GQ Edwards (subsequently played by Scott Eastwood), only for Warner Bros. to veto the idea.

“The character was different initially,” states Labeouf. “Then Will [Smith] came in, and the script changed a bit. That character and Tom [Hardy’s] character [later played by Joel Kinnaman] got written down to build Will up. I don’t think Warner Bros. wanted me. I went in to meet, and they were like, ‘Nah, you’re crazy. You’re a good actor, but not this one.’ It was a big investment for them.”

Suicide Squad overtakes Man of Steel at the worldwide box office

4 September 2016 2:58 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

It may have suffered a torrid time from critics, but audiences have certainly flocked to Suicide Squad, with the film overtaking fellow DC Extended Universe release Man of Steel at the worldwide box office this weekend.

The David Ayer-directed DC supervillain team-up has pushed its worldwide gross to $672.9 million – compared to the $668 million grossed by Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot back in 2013.

Suicide Squad still trails Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice by some $200 million, but had the film not been blocked from release in China, one would have to assume that the Worst Heroes Ever would be hot on the heels of the Trinity by this point.

It remains to be seen how much higher Suicide Squad can go, but $700 million looks all but assured.
