Part Iron Man, a few lines from Judge Dredd, a few more shades of Iron Man, a dash of Dark Knight, a light sprinkling of Avatar and a bloated screenplay with no real villain, barely if any excitement or tension or anything to note what so ever. The script is extremely poor and the director clearly had his hands tied or a gun to his head, or both.
They've taken a strong film and watered it down from a nice strong 43% scotch whiskey to a pointless alcohol-free tipple for babies. It's an true abomination.
The cinema was full of kids i thought must have gone into the wrong screen, misguided by their parents into what they surely expected to be the new Lego movie, but no, kids surely looking as young as 10 with and without parents making more noise than a junior playgroup. Of course the studios want a ready-made fan base that you can con a few more bucks out of, or in the case of this REMAKE
This remake is absolute RUBBISH a complete WASTE of time, their money and your money. It's AWFUL. The truth is that simple. A completely redundant poorly directed, edited and mis-cast remake best left undone. Long-standing iconic statements in cinema are being re-hashed watered down, ripped apart and humiliated for a buck. It's the cinematic equivalent of Soylant Green except much, much worse, it's akin to the Matrix where's the dead are fed intravenously to the living.
The original is and will remain far superior in fact this REMAKE doesn't even start to compare in any way what so ever. 12A uk rating? Laughable compared to the 80's 18 rating and it showed. Huge automatic gun fire-fights and not one drop of blood on the warehouse floor or leaking from a body? The original and only valid incarnation of ROBOCOP was a product of the 80's and most of all Paul Verhoeven.
The biting, scathing and witty utterly superb satire both societal and political was completely missing. The subverted talk of drones and foreign policy just opportunist propaganda, and whoa! hey! it's Sam Jackson! Yawn.
This is now just another watered down hack-fest for 12yr olds, another superhero movie franchise in the making. Completely and utterly redundant and lame JUST SO LAME. The casting was utterly useless and the acting poor to boot. Hollywood STOP MAKING POINTLESS REMAKES. IT SUCKS. THIS FILM SUCKS. YOU HAVE DESTROYED THE LEGACY OF A COMPLETE CULT CLASSIC.
An utter failure this film is as bad as everyone knew it would be, actually worse, even more watered down than you could possibly imagine. Hell 12A???? May as well have made it a PG or no, I tell you what studio chief :- why don't you just give the ROBOCOP2 remake you have planned a 'U' rating yeah that'll do it.
Also:- you're about to put your 'robocop' on public display on live TV, you know he's already having psychological issues so lets direct-upload a million gigawatts of digital data into his brain, what could go wrong?
If you really want to see a fun movie based on the original RoboCop I suggest watching 'Our Robocop Remake' at OurRobocopRemake.Com. A joint effort by 50 groups of people (who actually love and respect the film) who've made a fitting homage to the original movie which I actually found 3,000,000 times more engaging and entertaining than the $100,000,000+ studio remake.
The film critic Mark Kermode says . . "it at least looks like a version of Robocop that's made by somebody who understands what the original was about"
Thats very weak justification for advocating this film's existence, more-so this film is clearly made by someone who doesn't at all understand what the original was about. I mean I know what Inception 'was about' but that doesn't give me the right to have the nerve to *****ing remake it does it.
