Amy Schumer on her show's first season and storming the comedy frat house
Comedy Central may not quite be the cable-channel equivalent of a dude adjusting his junk in the way that, say, Spike TV is, but it’s still generally pretty bro-centric. This is, after all, the same institution that brought us The Man Show and helped convince every college-age guy resting his Oakleys on the brim of a baseball cap to yell “I’m Rick James, bitch!” at any available moment.

That’s what makes Amy Schumer’s success all the more impressive: While you might expect the “ironic Patrick Bateman” stylings of her fellow showrunner (and ex-boyfriend) Anthony Jeselnik to

Update: Free Agents Canceled by NBC, To Be Replaced by Repeats of Whitney

After four low rated outings, NBC has canceled Free Agents, its remake of the British series of the same name. Repeats of Whitney will be taking the show's place in the Wednesday night line-up, where it had been paired with recently renewed Up All Night.

Free Agents follows Alex and Helen, co-workers at a PR firm in Portland, Oregon that enter into the uncomfortable area in their friendship following a one night stand. The show starred Hank Azaria (The Simpsons), Kathryn Hahn (Crossing Jordan), Anthony Stewart Head (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Natasha Leggero (Chelsea Lately), and Mo Mandel (Reality Bites Back).

NBC was also responsible for the first cancellation of the season, as The Playboy Club was pulled after three episodes earlier this week.

How were you enjoying Free Agents? What do you think NBC should replace it with? Which show do you think will be cancelled next?

Comedy Central Reveals 22 Projects in Development for 2010-2011 Development Slate Including a Broken Lizard Sitcom, a Waiting… Adaptation, and a Jesus Christ Cartoon

  • Collider.com
Comedy Central has unveiled its entire development slate and, as to be expected, there are plenty of funny concepts in the bunch. The standouts include Highdeas, which explores such stoner-friendly hypotheticals as “white chocolate milk” and “hamster-sized rhinos”, Jc, the animated New York City adventures of one Jesus Christ, and The Fuzz, a police procedural in a corrupt city where humans and puppets co-exist.

Also in development are potential series from the likes of Jon Benjamin (Archer), Broken Lizard (Super Troopers), and Bob Odenkirk (Mr. Show), plus a Wating… adaptation from Rob McKittrick, the writer/director of the feature film that starred Ryan Reynolds. Note that this in addition to already announced projects from Will Ferrell, Nick Swardson, and The Onion. For a complete rundown, hit the jump.

MySpace Gameshow Puts ‘Bff’ to the Test

  • Tilzy.TV
We’ve all grown up watching game shows, anticipating the Plinko chips clip-clopping down the board and iconic theme songs ticking away time as contestants vie for fabulous prizes. Now there’s a new program popping up on the web that hearkens back to the Chuck Woolery era of quiz shows where contestants are tested on the knowledge of their closest relationships. Except this time, its platonic. Hosted by funny girl Amy Schumer - an American comedian best known for her stint on Comedy Central’s Reality Bites Back and Last Comic Standing - Bff is on a mission to entertain and celebrate the indestructible connection we all share with that one true friend who knows everything about us. On Bff, buddies are asked to remember the little things (favorite reality show personality, the last song you downloaded, places you’d like to visit, and other banal characteristics you probably

TBS Goes Frat

TBS is rushing the "Frat House."

The cable network has ordered a presentation for a tentatively titled half-hour late-night project from Bunim-Murray that is in the vein of the 2003 Will Ferrell comedy "Old School."

The project follows three comedian-hosts -- Bret Ernst (Showtime's "Weeds"), Theo Von (ABC Family's "America's Prom Queen") and Bert Kreischer (Comedy Central's "Reality Bites Back") -- as they lead a band of guys, each at a crossroads, who long for the simpler, raucous days of life in a frat house.

The news comes on the heels of TBS' ordering a pilot for another late-night project, "The TBS Comedy Roadshow," a contemporary take on vaudeville hosted by Harland Williams.

Bunin-Murray's credits include MTV's "The Real World" and E!'s "Keeping Up With the Kardashians."
