London based romantic comedy 'The Callback Queen', written and directed by Graham Cantwell (Trapped, Anton) has finished principal photography and has entered post production. The independent film stars Irish actors Amy Joyce Hastings (The Tudors, Little Deaths), Ger Ryan (Raw, Intermission) and Sean T. O'Meallaigh (Kings, Seacht). The story follows the exploits of Kate Loughlin played by Hastings who is an ambitious but unlucky actress on the cusp of her big break and is set in the cut throat world of the London film industry. »
RTÉ's brand new four-part drama series 'Amber' will finish filming tomorrow (October 5th). The series will be edited by Tony Cranstoun (Death of a Superhero, When Harvey Met Bob) at Meatball Facilities in the Liberties between now and January 2012. The sound mix and the grade will be completed in The Factory in January and February 2012. Production has commenced on the set of new Irish co-production, 'Jump!' from Dublin's Blinder Films and Northern Ireland's Hot Shot Films. Kieron J. Walsh (Sensation) directs the feature which is currently shooting in Derry and Belfast with stars Charlene McKenna (Raw), Martin McCann (Killing Bono), Ciaran McMenamin (Outcast). The film is based on Lisa McGee's play of the same name the story of seven people whose unrelated lives suddenly collide at the strike of midnight on New Year's Eve. McGee has adapted her drama for the screen and shooting commenced Friday, March 8th and will wrap on Friday, March 29th. »
Crime drama “Love/hate” has been nominated for 10 awards for the upcoming Irish Film and Television Awards (Ifta), to be held in Dublin on Saturday, February 12. Brendan Gleeson and his two actor sons, Domhnall and Brian have all been shortlisted in separate categories for the awards ceremony. Juanita Wilson’s Bosnian-set drama “As If I Am Not There” has been nominated for six awards. In the best actor categories, Cillian Murphy and Brendan Gleeson were both nominated for their performance in the Irish gangster comedy “Perrier’s Bounty”. Co-stars Colin Farrell and Saoirse Ronan are shortlisted for their supporting rles in Peter Weir’s “The Way Back”.
