Great selection

I was a little skeptical at first at the choice of episodes that Chris and Frank chose for this compilation. The same criticism went through my mind as I've heard from others namely: they are all comedy episodes, what about "Home" or other greats, seriously? Milagro?, etc. However having now watched their intros and reasons for including the episodes they did as well as having seen the episodes all together in a row I completely and fully agree that this is a definitive collection of great episodes to show someone who is unfamiliar with it. The Pilot is a given. It is the foundation that the entire series was built on so it should definitely be included. Beyond the Sea is the first really wonderfully acted and written episode. It also brings an amazing guest performance from Brad Dourif which should not be missed. The Host is probably the most memorable monster episode and it has some great mythology elements in it that leave the viewer curious and wanting to know more. Clyde Bruckman is my personal favorite episode of the series and won an Emmy for both Peter Boyle and Darrin Morgan who wrote it. Memento Mori was never one of my favorite mythology episodes but I have gained a new appreciation for it. It reminds me of the earlier episode One Breath which I never really appreciated until recently as well. There are so many elements that I think I just got confused and bored but didn't ever notice how nicely they all work together. Post-Modern Prometheus is Chris' magnum opus of the X-Files. It is very charming and has a happy ending which is pretty rare for the X-Files. I love when Mulder complains about the ending and asks to speak to the writer. It shows a very personal relationship between Chris and his characters. Kind of the same relationship between say God and his creations, not to be blasphemous. Next is Bad Blood. This is probably the most popular episode ever written for anyone who has ever seen the show. Finally, Milagro. This one was never a favorite of mine. But listening to Frank Spotnitz talk about how personal it was to him and others as writers of the show and their relationships with the characters and obsession about them and their stories brought a wonderful new perspective for me and appreciation for the episode. The last thing that makes this compilation worth buying is the bonus feature, in addition to the episode intros, of the WonderCon Panel with Frank, Chris, David, and Gillian. The first public appearance of any of them to talk about the show and answer questions since the filming began. It was a very exciting moment for all Philes and its great to have a better shot and edited version for my own posterity.
