Fantasia 2017: Tragedy Girls Review: Dir. Tyler MacIntyre (2017)

Tragedy Girls Review: Two best friends find their friendship tested as their desire for internet stardom puts them face-to-face with a local maniac. Tragedy Girls Review

McKayla and Sadie are Bff’s with a disturbing social media obsession. Determined to be ‘instafamous’, the girls run a blog about a local string of gruesome murders. After realising that their follower count is low, the pair track down the serial killer and take matters into their own hands, generating a furry of deaths that get the whole town talking, but is fame really worth all this work?

Usually a teen slasher movie would feature a teenage girl as the prime choice of victim, Tragedy Girls spins that convention on its head, the girls being the hunters. It’s a refreshing angle on a tried and tested genre, and injects some much needed newness. But that’s not where the innovation stops, there »

11 Questions: Craig Robinson fears his end will involve a global cockroach takeover

In 11 Questions, The A.V. Club asks interesting people 11 interesting questions—and then asks them to suggest one for our next interviewee.

Chicago native Craig Robinson first made a name for himself as Darryl on the American version of The Office. Since then he’s become a popular fixture in ensemble comedies like This Is The End and the Hot Tub Time Machine series. On the small screen, he’s shown up everywhere from Eastbound & Down to Brooklyn Nine-Nine and the sci-fi series Mr. Robot, as a deceptively friendly neighbor. His latest movie, out this summer, is a caper comedy called Austin Found with Linda Cardellini and Skeet Ulrich. Robinson took a few minutes between his many gigs to go through our 11 Questions, and we have to say, we don’t know anyone else who has given these questions so much thought, sometimes mulling them over »

7 Things the New Baywatch Swimsuits Reveal About the Movie

A swimsuit is to Baywatch, as a national flag is to a country.   The red-hot bathing suit has become an iconic identifier of the popular '90s TV series that one only need to see a mere flash of it to remember Pamela Anderson running on the beach or David Hasselhoff doing things only The Hoff could do.  So, when it came to the 2017 reboot of the classic TV show, how did costume designer Dayna Pink modernize such a recognizable piece without losing its original essence? This conundrum is exactly why the pro, who also worked on Crazy, Stupid, Love. and Hot Tub Time Machine, took the job. "That bathing suit is so iconic. What costume designer wouldn't do it?" said the pro, who had to »

There’s a ‘Back to the Future’ joke in here somewhere.Time Freak (2011)

Writer-directors John Ridley and Andrew Bowler will explore the personal side of time travel. Namely, how to use time travel to fix a relationship. You know, because time is a thief and we need to show it who’s boss.

John Ridley closed a deal with Miramax that has him set to write and direct an adaptation of Needle in a Timestack, a short story by Robert Silverberg. The short story is about a man who uses a time machine to fix his marriage after his nefarious time traveling rival destroys it. Ridley won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay in 2014 for 12 Years a Slave. He’s also the showrunner of American Crime, the miniseries Guerilla, and the director of the forthcoming documentary, Let it Fall.

Making History Season 1 Review

Four episodes were provided prior to broadcast.

Time travel is all the rage on television. Between Legends of Tomorrow, Timeless, Frequency, Time after Time, 12 Monkeys and last year’s 11.22.63, which I’m currently watching, forget about the butterfly effect; this is deja vu. Yet, Fox decided to add another time traveler to the schedule: the ultra-goofy buddy comedy Making History. I gotta say though, it’s not exactly living up to its title…

Created by Julius Sharpe (Family Guy), Making History is decidedly more Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure than Primer. It centers on Dan (Adam Pally), a lowly, average guy who spends his work days in a janitorial position in a local college and his weekends (and occasional Tuesdays) traveling back to 1775, via a duffel bag time-traveler, to meet his Colonel girlfriend, Deborah (Leighton Meester). Inherited from his late father, Dan is unambitious but certainly not malicious with his gift. »

The Hollywood community is in mourning once again, only this time, for a young man who passed far before his prime. Trevor Habberstad, a stuntman and stunt coordinator who most recently worked on X-Men: Apocalypse, Doctor Strange and Passengers, passed away on Sunday at the age of 27. The stuntman succumbed to a rare form of cancer. Trevor Habberstad was on a family vacation in Hawaii last year when he began to feel stomach pain that doctors initially thought was appendicitis, but after another evaluation, it was revealed that he actually had gastric cancer.

Jeff Habberstad, Trevor's father and a stuntman/stunt coordinator as well, told Khts News in their hometown of Santa Clarita, California that they just found out about a week and a half ago that the cancer had spread into the late stuntman's brain.
