Jerry is a middle-aged man who, thanks to Ireland's 'economic miracle' has become a financially comfortable property developer. He has recently married a younger woman and they live together under the media-made promise of a perfect family life. But their marriage, already tainted by compromise, is made all the more complex by the fact that Jerry has a severely disabled son from a previous marriage and gradually their aspirations turn to desperation.
