Storyline

On a train, Keith and Mick chat about the blues and the Rolling Stones are born. Douglas and Joe chat in front of a New Jersey music store, and a band is born: as Douglas's sister tells us, it's one of many that don't make it. We follow Douglas from high school (1963-64), when he sees himself as a loser, into the band, playing drums and singing backup - then as the front man. There are tensions, a breakup, an audition in front of a major player, and decisions. Douglas pursues Grace, a country-club gal with hip sensibilities who believes in him. There's also his father, working class, wanting Douglas to apply himself as he watches his own life fill with regrets. Written by <jhailey@hotmail.com>

Trivia

Most feature films slot 1-2 percent of production costs for the music budget, but in "Fade', music supervisor Steven Van Zandt, had about 10% of the $20-million-plus budget or at least $2 million. See more »

Goofs

Orlando's Army uniform has brass insignia on the right lapel, but it is missing from the left. The name tag above the right breast pocket is missing. As a private first class, he would have been in the Army long enough to have at least one or two ribbons, which should be above the left breast pocket. He should have a rifle qualification badge above the left breast pocket. He wears the unit insignia of the 25th Infantry Division on his left shoulder, which means that he was in the division at that time. The division, however, was in Viet Nam, making it highly unlikely that he would be at home in the U.S., wearing the winter uniform of a division in the tropics during the summer. See more »

Baby Boomers, this is a love letter to Us
19 May 2013 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

just finished up watching this growing up in the sixties, and rock and roll movie. for the earliest of the Baby Boomers, this is the movie for you, and the music will rock your soul. A teenage band, with inspirations maybe a little too optimistic. With a top notch cast, and great story telling, this was indeed entertaining and very realistic, since I was in a little band back then too. James Gandolfini is great as a pretty typical sixties Father, coping with everyday problems and a pretty wacky Wife. The teenagers are very realistic, and you could tell it was written pretty much biographical. It works for me. Highly recommended especially to us Boomers.
