Anne Heche Was Jealous Of Sandra Oh’s Career, At Least Until They Both Made ‘Catfight’

3 March 2017 1:00 PM, PST | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Sandra Oh and Anne Heche had never worked together before last year, but the seasoned actresses have both enjoyed a diverse series of successes. Oh broke into the film scene as the motorcycle riding free spirit in Alexander Payne’s “Sideways,” while Heche had roles in “Donnie Brasco” and “Wag the Dog.” More recently, they are better known for television projects such as “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Hung,” respectively.

In “Catfight,” these seasoned actresses get to sink their teeth into a script that is as ambitious in its simplicity as it is politically searing. Oh and Heche relish every punch and barb thrown in the film’s three rip-roaring fights, and both are pitch perfect in bringing Tukel’s daring script to life.

Veronica (Oh) bluntly berates her son for drawing at the dinner table, as her husband, Stanley (Damion Young), speaks gleefully about the money he will make from “the war. »

Matt Damon vs. Ben Affleck: Film Critics Are Forced to Pick a Favorite — IndieWire Critics Survey

21 February 2017 10:15 AM, PST | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of film and TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Monday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best film in theaters right now?”, can be found at the end of this post.)

From “School Ties” to “Live By Night” and this weekend’s “The Great Wall,” Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have each — for better and worse — left a considerable and ever-increasing footprint in the cultural landscape. But while the world is wide enough for both of them, our hearts are not. And so, we forced our panel of critics to choose: Ben Affleck or Matt Damon?

There can be only one.

Sandra Oh and Anne Heche duke it out in first trailer for Catfight

27 January 2017 12:10 PM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Two former college friends, played by Sandra Oh (Grey’s Anatomy) and Anne Heche (Hung), engage in a brawl that will consume their lives for years to come in the first trailer for Catfight. Check out the funny and violent trailer here…

Last year, the action comedy emerged out of the Toronto International Film Festival with relatively positive reception from critics; most reviews for the film praised the two lead performances and action scenes but weren’t entirely fond of the film’s more satirical elements.

In this action comedy, two former college friends, who now find themselves in very different walks of life, meet up at a fancy cocktail party: Veronica (Sandra Oh) has become the entitled, wine-loving wife of a rich businessman, while Ashley (Anne Heche), along with her lover Lisa (Alicia Silverstone), struggles to make ends meet as an artist. As the two women reconnect, long-buried hostilities, »

Sandra Oh and Anne Heche Start a ‘Catfight’ in First Trailer

27 January 2017 11:37 AM, PST | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

Recently named one of our favorite films of 2016 without distribution, we said, “Who knew that one of the year’s most potent representations of America’s addiction to abrasive conflict would be Anne Heche and Sandra Oh beating each other to a pulp? Onur Tukel’s Catfight is an unabashedly silly and political film, but it’s also a funny one, with its two lead actresses literally and figuratively hurling themselves into their roles.”

Thankfully it’s taken little time for the film to acquire distribution and it’ll arrive sooner than expected, in early March, and the first trailer has now landed. In the film, Heche and Oh play former college friends who bump into each other years later on the opposite sides of society — one is a struggling artist, while the other is married to a filthy rich Wall Street worker — and the tensions between them eventually boil over into a giant brawl. »

Sandra Oh And Anne Heche Throw Down In Catfight Trailer

27 January 2017 9:30 AM, PST | Screen Anarchy | See recent Screen Anarchy news »

Indie fave Onur Tukel takes a big step up in cast profile with his Anne Heche / Sandra Oh / Alicia Silverstone starring comedy Catfight, but anyone fearing that the Applesause and Summer Of Blood director may have toned down his particular style to bring the names on board will be very happy indeed with the just released trailer for the indie comedy. Because Tukel is clearly as quirky as ever. Wealthy wine lover Veronica Salt (Sandra Oh, Grey’s Anatomy, Sideways) and struggling outsider artist Ashley Chambers (Anne Heche, Hung, Psycho, Six Days Seven Nights) were close in college, but haven’t seen each other since. When they find themselves attending the same glitzy birthday party, verbal barbs lead to fisticuffs and an all-out brawl that...

Newswire: Thomas Jane is being pursued by Shane Black’s The Predator

24 January 2017 1:08 PM, PST | | See recent The AV Club news »

According to The Hollywood Reporter, former Hung star Thomas Jane has joined the cast of Shane Black’s The Predator, meaning the guy who once played The Punisher is now going to be on the run from a relentless murder monster of a different sort. Of course, we don’t actually know who he’s playing, so he could be on the Predator’s team, or just someone who is completely unrelated to the main plot. But both of those options seem unlikely.

Jane will be joining Olivia Munn, Keegan-Michael Key, and the recently cast Sterling K. Brown, with production on The Predator—which is described as a “reboot” of the series—set to begin next month.

The cast of Shane Black’s upcoming Predator remake just keeps getting better and better, doesn’t it? Already set to star Boyd Holbrook, Sterling K. Brown, Olivia Munn and Keegan-Michael Key, among others, the action film has just added another impressive individual to its roster in the form of Thomas Jane.

The Hollywood Reporter are the ones breaking the news, and though they don’t have specifics on Jane’s role, they do note that the project is quickly putting together the rest of its cast before it heads into production next month in Vancouver. As such, we can expect to hear more in the very near future.

Though he’ll likely fall into one of the supporting roles, Jane’s involvement in The Predator is great news. He hasn’t done a studio film in a while and given that he’s one of Hollywood’s most underrated talents, »
