Will The Merc Don His Famous X-Force Suit In Deadpool 2?

19 October 2017 9:14 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

No matter how many times 20th Century Fox champions the Merc’s sophomore stint as a standalone adventure, Deadpool 2 and Drew Goddard’s nascent X-Force movie are inextricably linked. They share the same universe, for crying out loud!

Word is the latter is gearing up for a production start late next year, so it’s all but certain that Deadpool 2 will include a few winks and nods toward Goddard’s ensemble piece. Fox is yet to disclose an official release date for the latter, though we imagine it’s targeting a 2019 launch.

Regardless of when it arrives, Deadpool 2 will clearly serve as the springboard for Fox’s X-Force crossover, and though we don’t expect an overstuffed sequel in the vein of Iron Man 2, the hosts of Marvel Movie News (via Screen Rant) have uncovered a seemingly major clue that suggests the Merc With a Mouth »

Film Review: ‘Thor: Ragnarok’

19 October 2017 9:00 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Hey, comicbook fans, it’s another Thor movie, and that can only mean one thing: It’s almost time for another Avengers movie! While you wait, Disney and Marvel Studios hope to loot another half-billion dollars or so from the world’s wallets with this outlandish amuse bouche featuring the God of Thunder and his Abs of Steel, with yet another confusing plot crudely bastardized from Norse mythology in which most of the action takes place on a parallel world you care nothing about.

Like Thor’s two previous solo outings (definite low points in the Marvel oeuvre), this one is pretty much skippable, although it’s not without its pleasures — most notably, the fact that Thor’s not so solo this time around, with cameos/co-starring opportunities for the Hulk, Doctor Strange and a few leftover bits of Tony Stark’s wardrobe (including a retro Duran Duran T-shirt that’s good for a laugh). And while it »

After Genndy Tartakovsky’s cult animated series “Samurai Jack” was canceled by Cartoon Network in 2004, rumors swirled for years about a feature-length adaptation. Tartakovsky worked with four different studios to adapt his hyper-stylized blend of martial arts and sci-fi action for the big screen, including New Line, Sony and J.J. AbramsBad Robot, but none of them panned out. “As soon as we started developing it as a movie, they wanted to fit it into a box,” Tartakovsky told IndieWire. “I love ‘Jack’ as one of my creations and would never want to change it from what it was supposed to be. There was no reason to reinvent. It was working.”

Power Pack Movie Is Back on at Marvel?

18 September 2017 5:49 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

12 years after Marvel used the rights to Power Pack as collateral in a deal that lead to the origins of Marvel Studios, the blockbuster studio is reportedly revisiting that property. A new report claims that, while we may be a ways off from a Power Pack movie actually happening, steps are being taken to put the movie into development, with longtime Marvel Studios executive Jonathan Schwartz being given executive oversight on the film. Jonathan Schwartz has been working for Marvel since 2009, where he first started as an assistant to Kevin Feige on Iron Man 2, Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger, before being elevated to a producer on Guardians of the Galaxy, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and the upcoming Captain Marvel.

The news comes from That Hashtag Show, which reports that the studio is looking to make a "Spy Kids-like story" that follows the Power family The »

What Do We Need from the Hellboy Reboot?

17 September 2017 4:40 PM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Source: Fashion and Action via Facebook

As news about American Gods actor Ian McShane’s role in the new Hellboy reboot surfaces, more and more questions are being asked about the future of the Hellboy franchise. Many fans spoke out about original Hellboy actor, Ron Perlman, and their anger seeing the rough and tumble man kicked to the curb, but were at least relieved to see a fitting replacement in Stranger Things star David Harbour, an actor similarly known for his gruff demeanor.

Source: Medina Maitreya via Facebook

The new movie will pit the big, red cat lover against the Blood Queen, the ruling witch queen over all the witches of England. As the original two films with Perlman focused on Rasputin, a main villain of the series, the sorcerer’s time in the comics ended fairly early.

The blood queen, however, played her role near the end of the standalone Hellboy series, »

Dceu Movies Don’t Follow The “Marvel Model,” Says Nightwing Director

16 September 2017 11:00 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Warner Bros./DC and Marvel are mining pretty much the exact same territory: aiming to create a united cinematic universe that stretches across multiple characters while periodically uniting them for really big threats. It’s a relatively new tactic in cinema, but one as old as the hills in comic books.

What’s interesting is the differing tactics each studio uses to achieve this. Understandably, few directors are willing to spill the beans on precisely how each of their creative processes work, but now, courtesy of Nightwing helmer Chris McKay, we at least have a glimpse of how Warner Bros./DC are defining themselves against the McU method.

In a recent interview with Metro, he said the following:

“Warner Bros is a more director-driven studio. Period. The end. More than any other studio you’re ever going to work at. Just look at the roster of world-class filmmakers that have »

Get Your First Look At Red Sparrow

14 September 2017 1:08 PM, PDT | Cinelinx | See recent Cinelinx news »

We may not ever get a Scarlett Johansson lead Black Widow stand-alone film, but we it looks like we are getting the closest thing to with Jennifer Lawrence.

We have been waiting for a Black Widow film since she first showed up in Iron Man 2. We will probably continue to wait for it, but we are getting the next best thing. Nearly the same story, just outside of the McU, and starring Jennifer Lawrence, as Fox has released the first trailer for Red Sparrow. Check it out below.

The story follows Dominika Egorova, played by Jennifer Lawrence, is many things: A devoted daughter determined to protect her mother at all costs; A prima ballerina whose ferocity has pushed her body and mind to the absolute limit; A master of seductive and manipulative combat. When she suffers a career-ending injury, Dominika and her mother are facing a bleak and uncertain future. »

Josh Boone Shares Updated New Mutants Logo As Filming Enters The Home Stretch

12 September 2017 2:37 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

In accordance with earlier reports, filming on 20th Century Fox and Josh Boone’s New Mutants spinoff has entered the home stretch, and an updated logo has arrived to prove it.

Posted to Boone’s personal Instagram feed (with a tip of the hat to Cbm), the logo below is drenched in blood. If nothing else, it proves Josh Boone wasn’t kidding around when he vowed to deliver a “full-blown” horror movie with New Mutants, and we’ve learned that the final product will be inspired by the horror trappings of Stephen King (It) and John Hughes.

Chronicling the story of gifted youngsters trapped within a super-secret research facility, New Mutants has endured a long, meandering journey to the big screen, but much like Deadpool 2 before it, principal photography is almost complete. As Boone revealed via Instagram, Fox’s 2018 spinoff has begun its last week of shooting in Canada, »

10 Actors Who Rejected Marvel Superhero Roles

11 September 2017 12:49 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Marvel movies are big business, from the Avengers franchise and all of the interconnected heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe on screens both big and small, to Fox's ever-expanding world of the X-Men and Deadpool, to the Sony steered Spider-man movies, going all the way back to Sam Raimi's original trilogy. But that doesn't mean every big name actor and A list talent in Hollywood wants to be associated with these characters. Some heavyweight actors have straight up said no way when Marvel came knocking. So, who would do such a thing?

Since becoming its own studio, which was later acquired by Disney in one of the biggest studio deals this side of Lucasfilm, Marvel has had no problem attracting top-tier A-list talent to its roster; the talent who commands major ticket grosses and critical acclaim alike. Taika Waititi considers Thor: Ragnarok to be the first film in a new Thor series

11 September 2017 7:00 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Back when Thor came out in theaters, everyone was a bit apprehensive. Marvel simply didn’t have the greatest track-record getting their works adapted to film (Yet). The first Iron Man film, at the time, was considered a bit of a “unicorn”. It was a solid film in its own right, and a massive step up for Marvel in terms of quality. Then Iron Man 2 happened. This, of course, led everyone to fear the worst for Thor’s first solo outing.

And how did it do? Not too bad, actually. The film has its detractors, sure, but Chris Hemsworth owned the part, and director Kenneth Branagh perfectly struck a balance between the mythological, and the banal. Thor: The Dark World fared about the same, critically. So what about Thor: Ragnarok, the Asgardian’s third solo adventure? Is there much connective tissue to the other films? According to director Taika Waititi, »

Thor Puts Together ‘The Revengers’ In New ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Trailer

8 September 2017 6:00 AM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

The Marvel Cinematic Universe have maintained a pretty consistent level of quality on the whole. Even the worst of their films — “The Incredible Hulk,” “Iron Man 2,” “Age Of Ultron,” “Thor: The Dark World,” “Ant-Man” — have elements to recommend them, and never sink as low as an “X-Men: Apocalypse” or “Suicide Squad.” But on the flipside, even the best of their films haven’t really reached genuine greatness in the way that, say, “Spider-Man 2” or “The Dark Knight” managed.
