The short is based on a screenplay written by Karlak with Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan (the “Saw” films, “The Collector”). Here is the official description of the short film: A dystopian future, where man’s attempt to create artificial intelligence has spun wildly out of control, leading to a war between man and machine.

Stars: Jason Bateman, Nicole Kidman, Kathryn Hahn, Christopher Walken, Marin Ireland, Harris Yulin, Eugenia Kuzmina, Michael Chernus, Josh Pais, Maryann Plunkett | Written by David Lindsay-Abaire | Directed by Jason Bateman

Performance artists. What good are they anyhow? It’s not like they put their lives on the line, or make a strong statement about anything going on in current events. It’s not like they tend to become wildly notorious for their acts, nor do they leave a mark on younger generations. But the question is, what happens to their kids? That’s what The Family Fang sets out to solve…

The second directorial feature from Jason Bateman after 2013′s Bad Words, The Family Fang sees Bateman star as Baxter Fang, the brother of Annie Fang, played by Nicole Kidman. They are affectionately called “Child A” and “Child B” by their parents Caleb and Camille, played by the one and only Christopher Walken and Maryann Plunkett. »

2016 NoBudge Awards Winners: ‘Thunder Road’ Named Best Short Film of the Year

3 January 2017 9:13 AM, PST | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

As the new year starts, the annual NoBudge Awards are celebrating the best short films and features that were released for free online in 2016. The online screening site for new indie films has recognized a variety of shorts and movies in 10 categories, with “Thunder Road” and “Her Friend Adam” winning multiple awards.

“In our 4th year giving awards, NoBudge is more dedicated than ever in highlighting some of the most interesting filmmaking happening anywhere. It just so happens that these films are available for free (legally) online,” stated site founder and programmer Kentucker Audley. “The awards shine a light particularly on the often overlooked short-form filmmaking. Free from the constraints of length or being celebrity-driven, these young filmmakers are able to demonstrate singular visions that resonate deeply despite their limited resources.”
