Short, but a nice interview with Jaleel
9 April 2015 | by (Co, Derry, Northern Ireland) – See all my reviews

Jaleel was 15 or 16 when he played Sonic, which was perfect because Sonic is a teenager.

He explains that when an actor or actress performs, their goal is to give you the audience what you want. What is your vision? And that is a very good motive.

He says "People have this image of actors saying 'Everyone shut up so that I can act!' It's not like that." Although some actors can be real prima donnas.

He explains that for the voice of Sonic, he didn't have an accent. "Is he surfer? Is he a teenager?" He just looked at the character and came up with the voice.

He says that Sonic and Urkel are his two most recognisable roles.
