Herb, a butcher, brings spoiled leftovers home just to make ends meet. Herb's wife wants a baby. In his never-ending battle to get ahead, Herb, a compulsive gambler, hits the dog- fights, but forever stands on the wrong side of the wager. With a staggering mob debt and a wife insisting on a family, Herb receives more bad news. A child, possibly his, will soon arrive on his doorstep. With another mouth to feed, Herb places larger bets and takes larger losses. Collectors arrive to call in the note and Herb is in way over his head. When pressed, it becomes clear that the most valuable thing in his life is the anonymous boy. A boy that is worth more for his organs than he is alive. A boy that no one would miss. Except Herb's wife. Written by Anonymous
Saw this short film at the AFI Film Festival in Dallas back in the summer. I was very impressed with everyone associated with it. Very professional crew and cast. Love, Love, Love this film. Wanted more when it was over, would love to see full length feature film made from this. Thought all the actors were excellent, especially the precious little boy, would love to see more of him. The director of this film captured all the suspense so well. He was so good at showing the true aggression of the actors without the blood and gore that is usually in these types of movies. Kept me spellbound and interested until the end and wishing it wasn't over. The actor that portrayed his mother was amazing her tears were so real, very impressed with her also. The thugs scared me. Would hate to meet them in a dark alley, their aggression toward the dad was so realistic!!!
