DS French looks into Sean Burrows' background and finds that he was moving every year or so for good reason. Usually, school or child care authorities were interested in him and he was clearly moving to avoid detection. The stumbling block is Judy Burrows who supports her husband's version of events. DI John Keenan decides to deal with his past and visits his own abusive father in prison. As he learns, the man hasn't changed and has no regrets at having beaten John and his mother. He also learns that wife Kate had actually written to his father and even sent him family photos, leading to a major row when he gets home. Kate, who knows nothing about John's abusive home life as a child, has just about had enough. Neil Parker tells shocked Kelly just who he's in love with.
