The Notable Films of 2011: Part Five

31 December 2010 5:23 AM, PST | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

The Factory

Opens: 2011

Cast: John Cusack, Jennifer Carpenter, Ksenia Solo, Mae Whitman, Sonya Walger

Director: Morgan O'Neill

Summary: An obsessed cop is on the trail of a serial killer prowling the streets of Buffalo, New York. When his teenage daughter disappears, he drops any pretension and professional restraint he might have to get the killer.

Analysis: Shot almost three years ago now, Dark Castle had originally planned to release this thriller back in late 2009. However for reasons unspecified, it has been sitting on a shelf for some time and keeps getting delayed. In cases like these, the most obvious reason is usually the correct one - it stinks (eg. "Case 39"). The company certainly has had its fair share of box-office duds lately including "Whiteout," "Ninja Assassin," "The Losers," "Orphan" and "Splice".

Yet Cusack generally has good taste in projects, his last venture into horror was the surprisingly effective Stephen King »

31 December 2010 4:00 AM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

This month has been one of the best that I can remember for trailers. All the studios were desperate for their trailer to get released before the Christmas holidays and we were inundated with posts. Since I love trailers so much, the inundation was most welcome. In what I am considering making a monthly post, here’s a roundup of all the trailers so far for December which I have embedded below for your viewing pleasure!

I’ve embedded them in the order in which they were released start December 1st to 31st and if I miss any, please let me know and I’ll update the post.

I really want this to be intereactive so make sure you tell us which trailers you liked the best and which you think will be great or terrible movies from what you’ve seen! So, let’s go!

Trailer/Poster for ‘Limitless’ starring Bradley Cooper

23 December 2010 8:46 AM, PST | SoundOnSight | See recent SoundOnSight news »

The new trailer for Bradley Cooper’s latest star vehicle has been released. This time it’s a thriller called ‘Limitless’, per Et Online, which is about “Eddie Morra, an aspiring author with serious writer’s block whose life radically changes when an old friend introduces him to Nzt, a revolutionary-but-untested new pharmaceutical drug. After taking the pill, Eddie’s senses are heightened; he can recall everything he has ever read, seen or heard, comprehend complex equations and even learn any language in a day.

Eddie corners the stock market, making millions and drawing the attention of mega-mogul Carl Van Loon (Robert De Niro), who wants the wunderkind to help broker the largest merger in corporate history. But Eddie’s accomplishments have also attracted shady characters that will stop at nothing to get their hands on his stash of Nzt. Compelled to take the drug daily or he’ll suffer »

‘Limitless’ starring Bradley Cooper – trailer review

22 December 2010 4:40 PM, PST | The Scorecard Review | See recent Scorecard Review news »

Limitless

Directed by: Neil Burger

Starring: Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro, Abbie Cornish

Rating: Nr

Release Date: March 18, 2011

Trailer Score: 7/10

My Thoughts: What would life be like if you had the ability to use your brain to its maximum potential? It’s an interesting idea, I’ll give them that. Or at least, that’s how it starts out. Where it goes from there? Well, watch for yourself.

At the heart of this story is down on his luck Bradley Cooper (like anybody would believe that he could be down on his luck…) whose life is transformed by a miracle drug that allows him to use all of his brainpower. Still with me? Good, because maybe you can help me out from here…

Where the movie goes is into a 2 minute sequence of “look how much expensive crap we can cram into one trailer” and that’s sort of where it loses me. »

Limitless: Dud is the drug

22 December 2010 8:07 AM, PST | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

Limitless stars a clear pill that turns the protagonist into a pimped-out, pool-bothering 'perfect' version of himself. Unfortunately he's still Bradley Cooper

If you could unlock the 80% of your brain lying dormant inside your head, what would your life be like? This is a question Bradley Cooper is prepared to answer. Not in real life, obviously – he's only got use of the regular 20%, and about 95% of that is probably taken up with thoughts of how to keep his face looking nice and glossy – but in his new film, Limitless.

So what happens when when you unlock the full potential of your mind? Let's turn our dull, understimulated powers of perception on the new Limitless trailer and find out ...

This is Bradley Cooper while he still has limited brain capacity, as evidenced by his inability to shave or fully grasp the concept of how hairbrushes work. The man, just like everyone else on the planet, »

While sifting through the week's newest trailers, I found a nifty little trailer to an upcoming thriller called Limitless. The trailer debuted on Apple, but below you'll find a HD version from YouTube. The flick stars Bradley Cooper (The A-Team) as a writer who discovers a mysterious new drug, enabling him to write faster, create more and turn himself into a suave agent of the high life. Co-starring alongside Cooper are Robert DeNiro and Abbie Cornish. The flick is directed by Neil Burger whose previously helmed The Illusionist and The Lucky Ones. Check below for the rather interesting looking trailer.

Bradley Cooper's Future Is Limitless

18 December 2010 8:26 PM, PST | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

Believing Hangover hunk Bradley Cooper as just a schlub writer is kind of a stretch, especially for those of us in the schlub-writer community. But thankfully, unkempt reality doesn't last long in Coop's new flick, Limitless. He gets his hands on some genius pills that help him finish his novel in 4 days and become a Wall Street Master of the universe even faster. Of course he gets rich, gets the girl and gets in over his head. You think there's going to be a hangover after taking all these genius pills?  Yeah, us too. But we're definitely hyped for this flick. Give us your take on the trailer in the comments section, and let us know whether you'll be seeing this one in the theaters when »

First Trailer for Limitless Starring Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro

Last week, Reletivity Media released a viral promo for its upcoming science fiction-tinged thriller, Limitless, that seemed like a typical commercial you would see on TV. Only, the spokesman for the commerical was currently-hot actor Bradley Cooper and the product being pitched was a wonder drug called Nzt that unlocks the untapped potential of the human mind, but with nasty side effects like "brain damage, irreversible coma, homicidal blackouts, and sudden death." Now, the first trailer for Limitless has been released and we learn more about what Nzt has to do with the movie and what effects taking the drug has on Cooper's character.

‘Limitless’ Trailer & Poster Will Open Your Mind

18 December 2010 7:22 AM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Chances are good that when someone drops the name Bradley Cooper, you think “the handsome goofball from The A-Team and The Hangover” -- not “the most intelligent man on Earth.” But that’s exactly the role Mr. Cooper will be playing in the upcoming sci-fi thriller/satire, Limitless.

An official trailer and poster have been released for Limitless (formerly, The Dark Fields), which stars Cooper alongside Sucker Punch gal Abbie Cornish and Little Fockers star acting legend Robert De Niro.

Limitless is officially described as “a paranoia-fueled action thriller” that revolves around Eddie, a lowly copywriter and aspiring novelist who turns his life around by taking a new drug that allows him to use 100% of his total mental capacity. But exterior forces, including that of Wall Street type Carl Van Loon (De Niro -- yes, that’s really his ...

Rewind: Golden Globe and SAG Noms Kick Off Award Season

18 December 2010 4:30 AM, PST | BuzzSugar | See recent BuzzSugar news »

The big award shows started ticking off their nominations for the year's best, starting with the Golden Globes, about which I had plenty to say in my snap judgments. By the time the SAG award nominations emerged a couple days later, we had a clear view of the movies that'll next be on Oscar's lips. 'Tis the season for trailers, and this week brought a ton of them. The most notable one may have been Water for Elephants, the circus set love story between Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon. Meanwhile, Brad Pitt and Sean Penn brought their star power to the Tree of Life preview, and Bradley Cooper started taking his crazy pills in the Limitless trailer. It wasn't all heavy drama in the trailer park - lighter flicks made their way out too. Topher Grace goes totally '80s in the Take Me Home Tonight trailer, Simon Pegg and »

Limitless Trailer Starring Bradley Cooper and Robert DeNiro

17 December 2010 11:18 AM, PST | FilmJunk | See recent FilmJunk news »

What if there was a smart pill that could turn you into a super genius overnight? Would you take it, and if so, what would you do with your newfound intellect? In Limitless, Bradley Cooper plays a writer who is struggling to find inspiration, when someone slips him an experimental drug that allows him to use 100% of his brain. It's the perfect drug for the information age, and it turns him into a "superman" of sorts, making him smarter, faster and more charming. Unfortunately, as you probably guessed, the drug comes with a few side effects as well. Based on the book The Dark Fields by Alan Glynn, the movie certainly has an intriguing premise, but the question is, where does it go with it? Directed by Neil Burger (The Illusionist, The Lucky Ones), this trailer appears to be more of a dark sci-fi thriller than a goofy comedy, which »

Viral marketing: how film fans have caught the bug

17 December 2010 6:39 AM, PST | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

More than a trailer, director Neill Blomkamp's new video leads fans on a digital treasure hunt for clues about his next movie. It's a game increasing numbers of film-makers are playing

When South African film-maker Neill Blomkamp's strange new short went viral last month it prompted many questions: is this a clue to Blomkamp's mooted District 9 sequel? Or his forthcoming new sci-fi project Elysium? And is that a pig or a cat, or – gulp – a little bit of both? It said as much about contemporary movie marketing as it did about the director's creativity.

Social networking encourages a see-and-then-share habit for moviegoers, and it's taken a step further this year – just observe the excitement and commercial reward generated by this year's viral campaigns for Inception and Tron. Yet despite the commercial motivation, most fans appear to be enjoying the shift. Viral movie marketing encourages engagement with cinema, »
