The journey through the Digital World finally reaches a point of significance, largely because Merukimon is given the chance to actually do something instead of just sitting around like the boss in a video-game. However, pretty much everything leading up to that is mechanical filler, infused with an "A to B" objective. The only interesting bit is the revelation from Keenan that it is possible for digimon to be permanently deleted, but that is nearly rendered pointless by the fact that Merukimon was going to touch on that anyway. He reveals information on the fledgling conflict between humans and digimon that will become important later, exposition that is complemented well by those fiery, orange-hued images. This misdirection, with a perceived enemy actually turning out to not be the villain, was also done in "Tamers", and is done well here. His fight with the Data Squad is thrilling, as all 3 of the ultimate-level monsters fire away at him and barely manage to do any damage. The stuff relating to Keenan, however, continues to be a chore to sit through. The kid's identity crisis and personality are just too shallow to garner sympathy…and there's that ridiculous speech impediment. The mysterious fisherman turns out to be the commander-general of DATS (because of course he is), though for such a high ranking official he sure has a laughable digimon partner.
