Los Angeles and other cities around the world are being bombarded by meteors that seem to be slowing down once they hit the earth's atmosphere. The earth is suddenly being invaded by space aliens that have landed off the shore of LA, and who begin killing everybody along the beach. The military is ordered into action. Marine Staff Sergeant Nantz (Aaron Eckhart), who was about to retire, is reassigned to a new platoon. The platoon, flown by chopper to the forward operating base at Santa Monica Airport, is being led by a new 2nd Lt. Martinez (Ramon Rodriguez). They are sent on a mission to rescue some civilians who are trapped at the police station within alien territory. They only have 3 hours to complete their mission and get out before the Air Force bombs that zone. Written by

One more famous "Retreat hell", comes from WW2, during the battle for Salerno, Italy, in Sep. 1943. The 1st & 2nd battalions of the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment were taking heavy fire. When it was suggested that they withdraw, Col. Rueben Tucker replied, "Retreat hell. Send me my other battalion." The 3rd battalion was sent up, and the enemy repulsed, and the Salerno beachhead was saved. See more »
When 2nd Lt. Martinez gives himself up to save the others and blows him and the alien force to bits with the C4 on the bus, the scene after the explosion shows the middle of the bus blown out with the front of the bus still intact. The amount of C4 in the bag and surrounding the bus would blow out the entire bridge from around the bus, not just the side of the bus. See more »

Action, aliens, guns, explosions, cheese and some 'kick ass' special effects, sounds like the perfect movie evening in to me.
It starts you off in the action and keeps it coming right to end, which is unlike many action movies that have been coming out lately.
The character interaction and register is about the level you would expect along with the onslaught of one liners and cheese.
This movie's current IMDb rating of 5.9 is to be honest some what of a joke and should not put you off watching it at all. I would however suggest you go and watch something else if you feel like being intellectually stimulated.
I believe that people are turning their noses up to this movie on grounds that should not be brought up when reviewing this genre.
I also believe that people aren't generally stupid and if you watch Battle Los Angeles you'll know what kind of movie to expect and you won't be disappointed
