Davy Mitchell: [reading] But that was all still to come in Maggie's den. The silence on the phone hissed and rumbled and crashed in my ear. It was the silence I still hear. Always in the middle of the night, when I'm walking down an empty highway. Or rolling across the center of the lake. Or holed-up in the last darkened Amtrak car, looking out the window at the distant twinkling lights. Some call it longing, but I call it silence.
