Storyline
Skipping ahead five months in time, Dillon High School finds its graduating class with: Lyla, who's father has come up with a plan for her to still possibly attend Vanderbilt; Matt, who plans to attend a school in Chicago away from Julie; Tim, who's brother tries to get a mechanic's garage going while planning to attend college himself; and Tyra, who's application is still up in the air in wanting to attend TU. Meanwhile, the issue over splitting Dillon High School seems small, compared to the fact that outside influences such as money and a control for power continue to affect Coach Taylor, even while his contract comes up for negotiations. I don't know anyone who watches Friday Night Lights that doesn't love it. This season finale felt like a 90210 finale when they graduated from high school. The episode attempted to do way too much with all of the main story lines as opposed spreading it out over a few episodes. It was probably done for the fans in case there is no renewal, but it sacrificed the episode with an abundance of sentimentality, was totally predictable, and completely failed in the fresh ideas department. Regardless how a regular viewer feels about the episode, one would rather have the episode than not. I just believe the show sacrificed its usual superior writing standards.
