Moss brings warmth and dignity to a part that could've easily slid into stereotype, while Camryn Manheim owns her few scenes as Amanda's best friend.

The direction rarely rises above acceptable, but anytime the camera's pointed at Grant, it doesn't matter. Like the currently ubiquitous pop song of the same name says, sometimes it's a good hurt.

The acting is overly broad, so even the dimmest light bulb in the audience gets the gags.

Variety
An ungainly, at times cringe-worthy succession of tame, telegraphed romantic mishaps, well-intentioned if unconvincing sentimentality, and some of the least authentic teenage dialogue this side of the "Friday the 13th" franchise.
