Top Lists: The Other Kind of Labor Movies

Last weekend, we honored Labor Day with a list of films celebrating labor unions and working people. But as every mother knows there is another kind of “labor.” Two things that Hollywood loves – weddings and births – are the subjects of countless films. To celebrate that other kind of “labor day,” here are a half-dozen movies (in no particular order) about having a baby with a birth scene.

1. Knocked Up (2007)

Judd Apatow’s guy-humor comedy features Kathryn Heigl in a very graphic birth scene with some shots you won’t soon forget (in the unedited version), which some have suggested might serve as birth control for some women out there.

2. The Back-Up Plan (2010)

Probably the weirdest movie birth scene -a home birth in a pool, surrounded by your closest friends, some of whom do not want to be there. Not sure an audience is really called for with this significant life event,

Don't Be Fooled by the Librarian Looks That She's Got...

For The Lusty Month of May, we're looking at sex scene each night. Here's Jose...

J.Lo never gets the credit she deserves. She might not be the greatest thespian in the world, but she's still one of the few actresses bringing "sex" to modern movie screens. You know, the kind of "sex" people like Mae West, Rita Hayworth, Brigitte Bardot and Raquel Welch used to bring. But of course what has Hollywood done with this? They have repressed her sensuality by having her star in Victorian-minded rom-coms like The Wedding Planner and The Back-up Plan in which she plays virginal characters that need a man or a baby to find contentment. Never one to sit around and wait, the fierce multi-hyphenated overachiever had to take matters into her own hands. She produced a movie in which she showed once and for all, how what J.Lo wants, J.Lo gets!

Box Office Report: American Sniper Holds Strongly At #1, Mortdecai Flops

American Sniper continued its sensational box office run, dropping a mild 28% on its sophomore weekend to earn an estimated $64.4 million and fending off competition from a trio of new releases. The R-rated Oscar nominee is clearly benefitting from exceptional word-of-mouth and buzz. While the opening last week was incredible, its small drop this week was even more impressive, indicating that the film stands a good chance at being the #1 highest-grossing film of the year in North America. (Who would have thought that halfway through 2014? Nobody. And, technically, due to its platform run beginning on Christmas Day, the film is a 2014 release.)

The Bradley Cooper-led drama also amassed the eighth-largest second weekend of all-time. All seven films that had bigger second weekend takes surpassed the $400 million mark. While that is not a guarantee for Sniper, it should handily surpass the final grosses of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and Guardians of the Galaxy,

Forecast: 'Sniper' to Easily Fight Off Weak Competition This Weekend

Meanwhile, Mortdecai and Strange Magic will likely wind up below $10 million.American Sniper opened to a stunning $89.3 million last weekend, which ranks second all-time for an R-rated movie behind The Matrix Reloaded. Tammy Blu-ray Review

After years of toiling away in nameless bit parts like “Sky King Waitress” in Disney’s The Kid (2000) and thankless supporting parts in rom-coms like The Back-Up Plan (2010), Melissa McCarthy finally broke out as a big screen star in Bridesmaids (2011). Since then, she’s been on a career roll, acting in such box office hits as Identity Thief (2013) with Jason Bateman and The Heat (2013) with Sandra Bullock. This summer, however, McCarthy set out to test her box office mettle without the help of a big name costar – well, at least not one made obvious in the film’s marketing materials – with Tammy, another middling, low-brow comedy hit. Written and directed by Ben Falcone, a.k.a. Mr. Melissa McCarthy, Tammy tells the story of a down-on-her-luck young woman (McCarthy) who, in one single, very bad day, loses her job, her car, and her cheating husband. In the angry aftermath, Tammy

Watch: First Trailer For Jennifer Lopez Thriller "The Boy Next Door'

She's had a few attempts by now, but Jennifer Lopez is still in search of her movie comeback. While one-time Bennifer partner Ben Affleck has reinvented himself as a director and as Batman, Lopez has gone a while without a real hit, with films like "The Back-up Plan," "What To Expect When You're Expecting" and "Parker" not quite delivering, and no big-screen appearance in two years (a sign, no doubt, of the relative sparcity of roles for women when they enter their forties). But Lopez has something on the way that seems like it could be a legit hit: falling in the footsteps of Halle Berry, who had a sleeper hit a few years back with "The Call," the star is going into thriller territory with next January's "The Boy Next Door," and a trailer has just arrived for the film. Produced by prolific horror maestro Jason Blum, and directed

Sex Tape movie review: for shame

Color me absolutely astonished that this is genuinely sweet and wholly sex-positive. Unfortunately, it’s also completely unfunny. I’m “biast” (pro): nothing

I’m “biast” (con): not a fan of what passes for comedy in Hollywood

(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)

Annie (Cameron Diaz: The Other Woman, The Counsellor) and Jay (Jason Segel: This Is the End, The Five-Year Engagement) need to spice up their bedroom time: they’re still madly in love with each other, but their busy lives — including two rambunctious gradeschoolers — have left them just plain physically exhausted. So they decide to video themselves running through all the positions in The Joy of Sex. It works: they have a wonderful night. But a mishap with the Cloud and some iPads that they had given away as gifts — to family, friends, colleagues, and acquaintances — sees the file accidentally distributed to all those other devices.

New Avengers 2 Hulkbuster Spoiler Teasers Revealed By The Director & Producer

According to a new report from Comicbookmovie.com, "Avengers 2: Age Of Ultron" movie director, Joss Whedon and producer Kevin Feige, delivered a couple of new spoiler teasers for the film at the recent Comic-Con 2014 event in San Diego,CA. In this particular segment, they talked about the Hulkbuster suit. Apparently, it's a backup suit in case things go awry, and more. Kevin told them that the Hulkbuster suit is a "bespoke suit. The back-up plan in case things go awry." Then Joss chimed in to say: "The Hulkbuster is from after my time as a reader, but even I knew what a big deal it was. It makes sense because there's no one who can really go up against Hulk, but more importantly, those guys are best friends, so what that battle is and what it means is fascinating to me." The movie stars: Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth,

Whedon, Feige Talk The Hulkbuster Armour

Along with those new photos yesterday of Jeremy Renner sporting his swank new coat on the set, the new issue of Empire (via Cbm) also includes some quotes from "Avengers: Age of Ultron" director Joss Whedon and Marvel's Kevin Feige about both the villain Ultron and the inclusion of the famed 'Hulkbuster' armor in the movie.

In terms of the robot nemesis, Whedon says the film on the whole "is more epic and in other ways it's more noirish and suspect and devious and specific. Ultron... he's got a touch of the apocalypse in him."

Feige adds: "Ultron was the villain Joss wanted, from midway through production on the first film, to have serious repercussions for The Avengers. We unveiled a poster here [at Comic Con] which is nothing but Ultron after Ultron after Ultron clawing at the beginning to defeat all of our Avengers. That's what a lot of this movie is about.

CBS Films Shake-Up: Terry Press remains President, as Wolfgang Hammer Departs for Digital Content Studio

Terry Press is solely in charge of CBS Films after her co-president Wolfgang Hammer quietly stepped down last May, a company spokesman confirmed.

Hammer will reportedly continue to play a consulting role at CBS Corporate, advising on digital content. The studio also laid off five people, including Bob Kaplowitz, a senior vice president of distribution, and several administrative employees.

More headcount changes may take place, according to an individual with knowledge, but no layoffs are imminent.

The studio is getting ready to release the Daniel Radcliffe romantic comedy “What If” on Aug. 1 and just wrapped production on “The Duff” with Bella Thorne and Ken Jeong. The company is expected to announced another homegrown production in the coming weeks and will likely be an active buyer at the Toronto Film Festival.

Press originally got involved in CBS Films on a consulting basis through her company 7570 Marketing Inc. She took the reins

Cameron Diaz Heats Up First Sex Tape Clip, Plus New Images

One major contender for comedy of the summer (though Neighbors may already have that one in the bag) is definitely Columbia Pictures’ upcoming Sex Tape, in which a bored married couple (Jason Segel and Cameron Diaz) decide to spice up their love life by recording themselves recreating every position in The Joy of Sex. However, when their lengthy video is accidentally uploaded to the cloud and distributed across every iPad they gave out the preceding Christmas (because rich people problems), the couple find themselves racing against time to destroy every copy of the sex tape before their friends, loved ones and even their postman can get a glimpse.

Our first clip from the comedy puts the focus squarely on Diaz’s sex appeal – and seeing as Diaz recently spoke to Esquire about going nude before the camera for the first time in her career for Sex Tape (“It’s a first for me.

Watch this Supercut of Melissa McCarthy's Raunchiest, Most Shocking Movie Moments (Video)
Melissa McCarthy has found her cinematic groove, portraying one funny character after another. After seven years on “Gilmore Girls,” where she played clumsy chef and best friend Sookie St. James, McCarthy made the jump to the silver screen with the film “The Back-Up Plan,” co-starring Jennifer Lopez. It wasn't until “Bridesmaids,” however, that the world was first introduced to her comedic potential. The movie also paved the way for her successful comedic career that has followed. Today, McCarthy's credits are full of hysterical movie roles, from a con artist to a Boston detective. Her latest flick “Tammy,” which hits theaters July.

Jason Segel & Cameron Diaz in One Final 'Sex Tape' Red Band Trailer

At this point, Sony Pictures might as well just show us the whole Sex Tape in question from the comedy reuniting Bad Teacher stars Jason Segel and Cameron Diaz. This particular look at the film is pretty much exactly the same as the most recent trailer from the United Kingdom that we recently saw, and if it wasn't for Rob Corddry and the promise of Rob Lowe doing cocaine, we probably wouldn't be laughing much. These feels like a CBS sitcom version of an R-rated sex comedy, but maybe there's hope that whatever they're not showing in the trailers is infinitely funnier. We'll find out soon enough. Watch the trailer below! Here's the final red band trailer for Jake Kasdan's comedy Sex Tape, direct from MTV: Another UK version of the final red band trailer for Jake Kasdan's Sex Tape, from YouTube: Sex Tape is directed by Jake Kasdan
