Sweetheart Video's Ricky Greenwood (IMDb has recently stopped calling the Canucker by his French/translated name Eric Boisvert) salutes 1970s drive-in Women in Prison movies with this surprisingly upbeat saga.
Carter Cruise and Ana Foxxx star as cellmates who find lesbian sex and learn about life while in stir, with the biggest surprise that they don't have sex together.
Fine performances down the line include lesbian porn icon Sinn Sage as the butch warden, who is seduced by crafty Kira Noir; and Serene Siren oddly sympathetic as the prison doctor. There's interracial sex as well as blonde on blonde action for Siren with lovely prisoner Verronica Kirei, and Carter Cruise bedding down with not-really-bad-girl Alison Rey.
Greenwood went on to shoot another retro parody, less successfully: Sweet Sweet Sally Mae, with Foxxx returning in the title role. Both new films owe plenty to the many originals of nearly 50 years before starring Pam Grier.
