When Dean and Sam read about a banker committing suicide after receiving a long-distance call, they head to his house to investigate what might have happened, expecting to face a demon. They find in the caller ID the number SHA33 and soon they discover that it is a very old phone number. Ben, the banker, had received a phone call from his sweetheart Lynda who had died years ago, but Ben's wife had heard only static while listening in on another extension. Dean and Sam find at the phone company a list of people mysteriously contacted by the number SHA33. The discover that all of them had received a phone call or a computer message from a beloved deceased person trying to persuade the listener or user to commit suicide. When Dean receives a phone call from his father, he believes that the phone is from hell and he asks who the demon that holds his contract is. However, Sam finds that they actually are fighting against a Crocotta, an evil being that feeds of the soul of his victims.
