Storyline

After escaping from Abstergo, Desmond Miles is led to an assassin safe house by Lucy Stillman, and accesses the genetic memories of Ezio Auditore da Firenze, his ancestor from 15th Century Renaissance Italy. After witnessing his father and brothers murdered, Ezio becomes an assassin and vows revenge on those who committed the crime. With the help of family and real historical figures, including Leonardo da Vinci, Ezio uncovers a greater conspiracy which would lead him directly to the religious hub of the world and a Spaniard by the name of Rodrigo Borgia, the man who would become Pope Alexander VI. A great followup
16 November 2012 | by (Bailey Downs!) – See all my reviews

I am in the minority here, I do prefer the first. This game has many advantages over the first (you can get help, levels are different structure etc.) but for some reason I wanted to play as Altair again.

The simple plot - Ezio tracks down and kills templars to avenge his family being murdered unjustly. Needless to say, this one has a bit of a thicker plot than the first

The historical figures in this game are a bit more recognizable than the first for example the guy pulling all the strings is not an Al Mualim "take out the other chess pieces so I can get to the end of the board" type, he is a villain of Giovanni Auditore Da Firenze as you see in "Assassin's Creed Lineage" who later turns out to be Rodrigo Borgia. Out of all the whack jobs running around in the Renaissance I applaud the fact that the directors chose The Borgia to be the villains not only in this game but in the next game "Assassin's Creed Brotherhood".

I do have a few complaints. My biggest one is that there is virtually no difference in bare fist fighting style between Ezio and Desmond. I would also like at least one more prequel that explains how Altair's descendants got to Italy.

Overall this is a great game and I recommend to fans of the first.
