Sympathy for the Corporal!
24 March 2017 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

The lads return to their billet and discover they have a new roommate. Unfortunately, it is Marsh. With Alice having left him, he cannot stand being in the caravan on his own, and has moved in with the 'erks'. They are less than thrilled at his being there; only Matthew is prepared to turn the other cheek and extend the hand of friendship. Speaking of Matthew, his tendency to faint at the sight of anything even mildly gory gets too much for him and he tries to resign from the course - without success.

Tony Selby gets to display a more human side to 'Marsh' in this episode. Unfortunately, it does not last. The bombastic, bullying Marsh of old is back in place before the end credits.

Funniest moment - to conceal Matthew's next fainting spell, Marsh orders the other trainees to faint at exactly the same time.

Second funniest moment - preparing for bed, Marsh removes his dressing gown, and we see he has corporal's stripes sewn onto his pyjama jacket's sleeves!
