Jakey kisses a Corporal
1 April 2017 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

As the exam approaches, the lads study like mad. Except for Jakey, who's too busy playing table-tennis against himself. Unable to stand the noise any longer, Marsh crushes his table-tennis ball between his fingers. Matthew prays to God he can get through the practical part of the exam - it involves assembling a plastic model of an abdomen - without fainting. Marsh decides to cheat by stealing a medical text book from Flight-Sergeant Wells. His actions have not gone unnoticed...

As this was intended to be the final series, Esmonde and Larbey decided to begin wrapping things up; this episode has Leckie marrying Corporal Wendy. Marsh is furious when he does not get an invite to the wedding, and displays his displeasure at not being invited to the reception by gatecrashing. Marsh tries to kiss the bride, and when Leckie objects, a fight looks certain. Marsh is only too happy to oblige. Then Jakey intervenes, and an excited murmur can be heard from the studio audience. Since 'In' started, fans had longed to see Jakey knock seven bells out of Marsh ( which I'm sure he could have done ) but the scrap never gets under way.

Funniest moment - during the practical test, Jakey is asked to assemble a model human ear. "Where is the cochlea?", asks Wells. Jakey looks baffled. "I thought we were doing the ear!".
