A turn for the nurse
26 March 2017 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

The lads take part in a field exercise - Jakey, Matthew and Bruce pretend to be injured as the result of an imaginary plane crash. Marsh and Ken have to work out what to do. The Corporal discovers an ingenious method for getting through the test - he asks Ken for a diagnosis, and then acts as though he thought of it himself.

An ambulance driver ( Ronnie Brody from 'Dave Allen At Large' ) tells the gang that a man with a broken leg will be planted along the route to the cottage hospital, and that they must treat him. Unfortunately, they find the wrong man, a 'Mr.Purvis' ( Derek Ware ) falls off his bike and hits his head on a signpost. Marsh thinks this is the broken-legged man they've been told to look out for...

An okay episode. Ben Aris, who plays 'Dr.Purnell', was 'Julian Dalrymple-Sykes' in the last few seasons of 'Hi-De-Hi!', while sexy Judy Buxton - cast as a nurse - appeared in the daytime soap 'General Hospital' a few years before ( it was still running when this went out, but Judy had left it by then, and it had been promoted to peak-time viewing ).

Funniest moment - Mr.Purvis sneaking out of the hospital, only to then break his leg for real!
