Welcome to the high-point of Season 4.
Marsh is still the cuckoo in the lads' nest, keeping them awake at night with his constant snoring and farting. A trip to Blackpool provides a welcome respite; Matthew learns to appreciate a good pint of beer, Bruce and Corporal Wendy finally become an item, and Jakey tries ( and fails ) to chat-up the local talent. When they find Alice working in a Hawaiian theme bar, they sense an opportunity to bring about reconciliation between her and her husband...
Good stuff. Patrick Newell, who plays 'Fred' the barman, was spymaster 'Mother' in the underrated final season of 'The Avengers'. Barbara Keogh, seen here as tart 'Gloria', was Sharon Eversleigh's mother in Esmonde and Larbey's earlier hit sitcom 'The Fenn Street Gang'. Lori Wells is gorgeous dressed as a Hawaiian native girl.
Funniest moment - just as Marsh and Alice seem to have patched things up, Gloria appears and reminds Marsh that he asked her out on a date! Cue a display of bad temper from Alice.
