Transformers: The Last Knight surprise billboard on display in Times Square

14 July 2016 12:54 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

In a rather surprise move, a billboard for Transformers: The Last Knight has popped up in New York City’s Times Square. The image features Optimus Prime engaging an unknown enemy. This is a surprise because the movie isn’t even a year out yet and filming is currently underway, though the image could give us a small hint at the film’s villain.

Though we don’t know what Optimus is fighting, it certainly looks like a rendition of the giant-sized planet eater Unicron. After Megatron, Unicron is the most recurring and ultimate villain in nearly iteration of the Transformers franchise, eating planets to turn into fuel for his massive body and seeking the destruction of the Autobot’s Matrix of Leadership. Tansformers: Age of Extinction ended with Optimus going in search of his ‘creators’ and Unicron is one of the oldest transformers to have ever existed, in some »

Autobot Drift Gets an Upgrade in Latest Transformers 5 Photo

1 July 2016 2:09 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Ever since production started on Paramount's Transformers: The Last Knight, director Michael Bay has been sharing photos of the vehicles that will be used in this highly-anticipated sequel. We've already gotten glimpses of Megatron, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and the new Transformer Squeeks, and today the filmmaker has unveiled another returning Autobot, Drift. We also have word that the growing cast has a new addition, with Santiago Cabrera coming aboard.

Drift made his Transformers franchise debut in 2014's Transformers: The Age of Extinction, where his automotive form was a 2013 Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse. MichaelBay.com reveals that, in Transformers: The Last Knight, this Autobot will be a Mercedes Amg Gt R. Ken Watanabe voiced Drift in the last Transformers movie, but it isn't known quite yet if he will return to voice the character in this follow-up.

In related news, Santiago Cabrera has joined the cast in an unspecified role. »

Santiago Cabrera Enlists For Transformers: The Last Knight, Samurai Autobot Drift To Return

1 July 2016 12:19 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Paramount’s starry cast for Transformers: The Last Knight has grown by one today.

According to an Instagram post, the latest in line to join Michael Bay’s blockbuster sequel is Santiago Cabrera, the actor best known for his roles across Heroes and Merlin. No word yet on who Cabrera will be playing when The Last Knight descends into theaters, though his addition isn’t the only casting to report.

Just as Michael Bay introduced an all-new, pint-sized Autobot to the fray late last week, there’s now confirmation that Drift, the slick Bugatti V that slashed and dashed its way into Age of Extinction, will return in the 2017 sequel. You can check out a sun-kissed action shot of the robot in disguise, below.

As for the human cast at the heart of Transformers: The Last Knight, it’s packed to the rafters with faces old and new. Reuniting with his old partner in crime, »

The Living And The Dead episode 1 review

Episode one of handsome new BBC supernatural period drama The Living And The Dead feat. Colin Morgan ends on a gripping hook…

This review contains episode 1 spoilers.

Ashley Pharoah, the creator of The Living And The Dead, made his name writing genre TV with a twist. He and Matthew Graham added a time travel mystery to the police procedural in Life On Mars and Ashes To Ashes, then spliced the supernatural with court drama in Eternal Law.

Pharoah’s new series The Living And The Dead plays the same game. It’s a traditional Victorian ghost story with Something Else Going On. Two events in the first episode alert viewers to this fact – the vapour trail of a modern airplane in the 1894 Somerset sky and the closing sight of a twenty-first century woman, iPad in hand, walking around the nineteenth-century farmhouse in which the story is set. »

The Living And The Dead: the BBC's new supernatural drama

We chatted to the writer and cast of new BBC supernatural period drama starring Colin Morgan, by the co-creator of Life On Mars...

On the wall of Ashley Pharoah’s office hangs the bullet-riddled driver-side door of a red 1983 Audi Quattro. It’s a set-souvenir from Ashes To Ashes, the time-travel police drama he co-created to follow Life On Mars. Somewhere nearby is a sepia photograph of a young man looking justifiably disturbed by the sack-headed, creepily masked figures who surround him. That’s Pharoah’s souvenir from the set of The Living And The Dead, an eerie period supernatural drama launching in 'box-set' form on BBC iPlayer tomorrow.

Set in 1894 Somerset, The Living And The Dead is in the tradition of the dark English pastoral. It pits the rural customs and rites of an ancient way of life against the modern ingress of industry and technology. »

The Living And The Dead: BBC supernatural show to debut as iPlayer box set

All 6 episodes of The Living And The Dead, from the co-creator of Life On Mars, will debut this Friday the 17th of June on BBC iPlayer...

In a repeat of last year's successful online-box-set-then-traditional-broadcast-release (snappier name required) of Peter Kay's Car Share, the BBC is launching its first original drama 'box-set'.

All six episodes of spooky new period drama The Living And The Dead, created by Life On Mars' Ashley Pharoah and starring Merlin's Colin Morgan and Glue's Charlotte Spencer, will be available to watch from this Friday the 17th of June on BBC iPlayer. The episodes will then receive a weekly airing starting from Tuesday the 28th of June at 9pm.

It's a smart move from the BBC, one that will transform iPlayer into more than simply a catch-up service. Traditional viewers won't lose out on week-by-week viewings, while those more used to gulping down entire series whenever it suits them can do just that.

The Living And The Dead is in the tradition of the dark English pastoral, a creepy countryside tale of the strange goings-on that beset a young psychologist (Morgan) and his photographer wife (Spencer) when they move back to his childhood West Country home in 1894.

We'll have more for you on the show later this week.

Raunchy French TV epic Versailles enlists British actors to usurp Wolf Hall’s crown

Young stars of Merlin and Vikings head the cast bringing Louis Xiv’s lavish court to life, as France’s £20m ratings smash comes to BBC2

Welcome to the French Wolf Hall. Versailles, a historic court drama to rival the Hilary Mantel epic for sexual and political scheming, with lavish locations to dwarf Downton Abbey, is coming to BBC2 later this month. But amid the intrigue and affairs of the heart, the biggest surprise to viewers may be that this French production was made in English and stars two young actors from this side of the Channel.

“At first we thought we were going to get our heads ripped off,” said Alexander Vlahos, from Llantrisant, near Cardiff. “A pair of British actors daring to play these historic French characters. But it has gone down very well.”
