The first film to introduce the Rainforest Films logo.
The backless red dress that Lisa wears to the hotel (and on the film's poster) was sewn from scratch, using design elements the actress playing her liked from different dresses considered for that sequence. The rest of the garments used in the film were store-bought.
This is Beyoncé Knowles' first movie role where she is not singing, although she has a song featured in the movie credits.
An interracial aspect of the film was originally planned according to the director in an interview. However, this idea was scrapped, presumably because of similarities to screenwriter David Loughery's previous film, Lakeview Terrace (2008).
