Seth MacFarlane to Star in Live-Action Space Dramedy Series for Fox” booms a Hollywood Reporter headline, informing us of Fox’s decision to produce a 13-episode series – written by and starring MacFarlane – about a crew of space explorers set 300 years in the future.

Longtime writing partners Kauffman and Crane created the hit television series “Friends,” which earned 63 Emmy nominations in its decade-long run, the Kirstie Alley starring “Veronica’s Closet”; “The Powers That Be”; and the HBO series “Dream On.” And they didn’t stop there. Outside their partnership, Crane has co-created several series with Jeffrey Klarik, including “Episodes” and “The Class.” Kauffman most recently co-created Netflix’s “Grace and Frankie,” which was nominated for an Emmy and Golden Globe this year.

‘Family Guy’ Team Sells Dads Comedy Pitch to Universal

Universal Pictures has acquired an untitled comedy pitch from writers Wellesley Wild, Kevin Biggins and Mike Desilets, with Scott Stuber on board to produce.

Stuber and Dylan Clark will produce for their Universal-based Bluegrass Films banner.

The film follows a group of overweight dads who get a wake-up call and abruptly change their hard-drinking, hard-eating lifestyles when a member of their group has a heart attack.

Exec vice president of production Jon Mone will oversee the project for Universal.

Wild wrote and executive produced “Ted” and “Ted 2,” alongside producers Stuber and Clark. The two films, released by Universal, collectively grossed more than $760 million worldwide. Wild also serves as executive producer, writer and voice cast on Fox’s “Family Guy.”

Biggins is currently a co-executive producer on Fox’s “Family Guy.” His writing credits include “Tosh.0” and “The Cleveland Show.” Desilets is a producer on “Family Guy.”

Paramount Musical ‘Grease: Live’ to Air on U.K. Broadcaster ITV

London — U.K. broadcaster ITV has picked up Paramount Television’s musical “Grease: Live.” The show, which will be filmed and broadcast live in the U.S. on Fox on Jan. 31, will air on ITV2 on Feb. 3.

The show stars Julianne Hough (“Safe Haven,” “Rock of Ages”) as Sandy; Aaron Tveit (“Graceland,” “Les Miserables”) as Danny Zuko; and Vanessa Hudgens (“Spring Breakers”) as Rizzo. Marc Platt (“Wicked,” “Into the Woods”) is the executive producer; Thomas Kail (“Hamilton,” “In the Heights”) is the director overseeing the stage direction; and Alex Rudzinski (“Dancing With the Stars”) serves as the live television director.

Earlier this month, ITV announced that it had acquired U.S. talk-show “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” which started airing on ITV2 on Jan. 18, and the channel recently became the U.K. home for the Seth MacFarlane family of shows: “American Dad,” “The Cleveland Show” and “Bordertown.” Its other U.S. »

Fox Orders Pilot for Julius Sharpe, Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s Time Travel Comedy

Fox is boosting its relationship with “Last Man on Earth” exec producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller, ordering a pilot for the duo’s time travel comedy, Variety has learned.

Hailing from scribe Julius “Goldie” Sharpe, the Untitled Sharpe/Lord and Miller Project follows three friends who find a way to travel through time for truth, justice, and riches, which complicates their lives in 2016. They visit some of the greatest moments of the past as they try to resolve their personal problems, while history and pop culture comically collide.

Sharpe currently works on “The Grinder” and is an alum of “Family Guy” and “The Cleveland Show.” With him, Lord and Miller, plus “Last Man on Earth’s” Seth Cohen serving as exec producers, the project keeps all familiar Fox faces in the family.
