Not bad, considering it stars a guy named "Poodles"
2 August 2009 | by (Bradenton, Florida) – See all my reviews

This is the third of three comedy shorts starring Poodles Hanneford that are included in a collection of Weiss Brothers comedies from the silent era entitled "Weiss-O-Rama". While Hanneford is less well-known than some of the stars in the collection (such as Ben Turpin and Snub Pollard), his films are agreeable and worth seeing--probably more so than the Pollard films.

In this film, Poodles loses a job working at a car dealer so he gets a job working for the Hardly Able Cab Company. How he got from driving a cab to fighting with a horse is an odd and contrived situation, though the horse appears to be his co-star from CIRCUS DAZE. This is probably the highlight of the film.

Overall, a nice but not especially great comic short.

By the way, the trick riding probably was Poodles, as he was raised in the circus in real life.
