The Most Shocking, Grisly and Heartbreaking Deaths on TV — IndieWire Critics Survey

The Most Shocking, Grisly and Heartbreaking Deaths on TV — IndieWire Critics Survey
Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)

This week’s question: What’s the most memorable death — scripted please! — you’ve seen on TV? It could be disturbing, crazy, heartbreaking, etc. Old and current shows fair game.

Tim Surette (@timsurette), TV.com

I can’t seem to scrape the death of Charlie in the Season 3 finale of “Lost” from my mind — I can remember every part of that scene so many years later. There was something about the way the scene was written and shot that was just perfect, and even though it was the perfect time to say goodbye to the character, it was still hard to let him go. Charlie died a hero, dudes. Driveshaft forever!

French actor-turned-director Jalil Lespert (whose filmography behind the camera includes the unreleased in the U.S pair of 24 Measures and Headwinds) has nabbed a deal with The Weinstein Company for his bio-pic take on the rise of fashion icon Yves Saint Laurent. This will be the second time in just as many years that the Weinsteins grabbed a French film bio portrait that was simultaneously re-made in another shape or form – last year they had one of the two competing The War of the Buttons (“La Guerre des Boutons”) adaptations which had a unique duel showdown in France. We think we could Lespert’s Ysl portrait around the Vogue September issue month.

Miley Cyrus on Supporting Bf Liam Hemsworth... and Pranking Him
"Extra" correspondent Ben Lyons caught up with Miley Cyrus at the L.A. premiere of "The Hunger Games." Miley was there to cheer on her boyfriend, "Games" star Liam Hemsworth.

"I'm a proud girlfriend; Liam's amazing in this," gushed Miley. "I think the characters... they all have so much depth. It's not a typical love triangle story and it's also really sad. I think the minute you start watching the movie you feel exactly where you are at that time.

There were several Lol moments during the 2012 Academy Awards, and one of those moments came courtesy of the funny women from "Bridesmaids." The six stars of the box-office smash took the stage on Sunday night (February 26) to hand out a bunch of awards. They not only passed out Oscar gold, they also dished out some good-natured, albeit somewhat Nsfw, laughs.

Maya Rudolph and Kristen Wiig were first at bat to present Short Film (Live Action) to "The Shore."

"Six beautiful, some say handsome, women were invited by the Academy not only to present three awards, but also to shatter the common belief that size does not matter," Wiig joked. "Ah, I hate to tell you guys this, but it kind of does,

It seems that the Disney girls have each other's backs. Miley Cyrus will no longer be able to voice a part in Adam Sandler's animated vampire flick, "Hotel Transylvania," and it seems that Selena Gomez has stepped up to the plate to fill in for her.

A rep for Sandler told E! News that the actress will play the part of Mavis, the vampire daughter of Dracula (Sandler). Dracula, who runs a resort of all the creepy folks in the world, gets worried when his teen daughter falls for a boy. E! reports that "Saturday Night Live" star Andy Samberg, singer and "The Voice" judge Cee Lo Green and Sandler's pal Kevin James also have sunk their teeth into roles in the film, expected to drop in September.

Back in November,

Watch: Miley Cyrus squares off with on-screen mom Demi Moore in 'Lol' trailer
Miley Cyrus grapples with "growing-up issues" in the upcoming drama "Lol", based on the 2008 French film of the same name written and directed by Lisa Azuelos (who returns behind the camera here). Why it was necessary to remake a film that's essentially about a mother and her teenage daughter coming into conflict as the latter begins to rebel is beyond me, but nevertheless here it is, and the first trailer for the film has hit the web. Played by Sophie Marceau in the original movie, the role of the mother has been taken over by Demi Moore in the remake,...

Trailer For Miley Cyrus' Lol Even Worse Than You Expected

French writer-director Lisa Azuelos is set to make her American movie debut this year with Lol--as in laughing out loud.a remake of her 2008 coming-of-age comedy that starred moody ingénue Christa Theret as Lola.or Lol to her friends (get it?)--a teen girl attempting to maneuver through the minefield of absorbing crushes, peer pressure, and parental intervention. While the trailer to the original film's trailer revealed sex, drug use and some slightly unnerving mother-daughter bonding, the new trailer for the U.S. Lol focuses on candy, texting, and condoms--oh my! Simply put, it looks like smoking salvia could lead to signing on to terrible scripts. Check out the trailer below: With dialogue like "You didn.t call or text me" and "it's so good to love someone so much it hurts," it's hard to expect this flick to appeal to anyone outside the tween/teen demographic. The trailer

Don't Watch: Trailer for High School Comedy 'Lol' with Miley Cyrus

"I know that this looks bad..." Since there aren't many other good trailers to feature, here's one you don't want to watch. A new trailer for a teen romantic comedy called Lol starring Miley Cyrus has hit YouTube via Vlicious. Yes, believe it or not with that title, this is a to-be-theatrically released movie from Lionsgate, and it's also a remake of the director's own 2008 French film, also titled Lol. There's a lot of questions in this, like: why the random trip to Paris, why is their hair blowing in the car, who's the band with the Dharma symbol? In addition to Miley, this co-stars Douglas Booth, Ashley Greene and Demi Moore. Have fun! Watch the first official trailer for Lisa Azuelos' Lol, originally via Playlist: In a world connected by YouTube, iTunes, and Facebook, Lola and her friends navigate the peer pressures of high school romance and friendship
