Trivikram Srinivas delivered two biggest blockbusters, Nuvve Nuvve and Athadu in the past and unfortunately "Jalsa" doesn't belong to that class. The title of this film "Jalsa" is not justified and doesn't suit the story. The story itself is not strong and it leaves a doubt if Trivikram really wrote the story for this.
Performance wise, Pawan was very good in the lead role. He uttered Trivikram's dialog's with ease. His dance, fights (hard to believe) were good. Ileana, Parvathi Melton n Kamalini were used for glamor and there was no scope for exhibiting their talents. Brahamanandam was again (after Krishna(2008)) awesome in this movie. The comedy track between Brahmy n Pawan was a treat. Supporting roles by Prakash Raj, Mukesh Rishi, Sunil, Ali and Dharmavarapu were good and they excel in their respective roles.
Superstar Mahesh Babu should be applauded for giving voice over to the narration of this film.
Technically, Music by Sri Prasad is good. Songs are good. His background score was mediocre. Cinematography by Rasool Ellore & Guhan was brilliant. Editing by Srikar Prasad was good. Dialogs penned by Trivakram were brilliant as always. He failed to a great extent in the Story department. Story of this movie is not very strong and the narration (screenplay) too was not convincing. A few scenes which are the main turning points in the film were not at all convincing. Anyways, Direction by Trivikram was good.
The following scenes were not at all convincing:
1) Ali getting kidnapped and Pawan running behind him and bashing the guys and then Uthej coming and shouting at Pawan n then he telling the story he was a naxalite.
2) Flashback barely lasting for 10-15 mins and Pawan saving Prakash Raj n the Minister and surrendering. There was no much emphasis on he being a naxalite.
3) Pawan earning 3000 rupees as stipend and living in a posh flat.
4) A stone hitting Pawan's leg when he is coming back after cremating his parents n then he bashing people saying that why people should own 1000 acres, money n gibberish talk like that.
On the Whole, Jalsa title is not justified to this film and this film is a total failure story wise. You can watch this film for it's comedy n musicals and nothing more than that.
