Bullitt (1968)
The scene with Gus pursuing the SUV is done in a similar style as the famous car chase scenes from the 1968 movie Bullit. Gus' car even loses a wheel cover without it being missing in the following scenes, a nod to the fact that this continuity error occurs often in the course of the movie.
Shaft (1971)
Shawn says, "It is a bad mother" and is cut off by Gus, who says, "Shut your mouth!"
The French Connection (1971)
Shawn tells Henry, "You stand down, Popeye Doyle."
Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
Shawn mentions it.
National Treasure (2004)
Shawn mentions it.
