Ah, the police drama, it is perhaps the most watched type of series on television, in league with the soap and the medical drama. So, it comes as little surprise that Amazon wants in on the procedural goodness. The streaming service has given Bosch the green light.
Based on the New York Times Best Selling novels by Michael Connelly, the pilot will center on Harry Bosch, a veteran police homicide detective who works in the city of angels for the Los Angeles Police Department. I have a soft spot for Lapd tales! And the field is wide open with Southland not getting renewed again.
Our friends over at Deadline say that the Bosch pilot was written by Connelly and the co-creator of Treme, executive producer Eric Overmeyer. Both men share executive producing duties with Fabrik’s Henrik Bastin and Mikkel Bondesen. HBO’s Treme has some Emmy nominations to its »

The first trailer for "Runner, Runner" has debuted, and it looks like the film will show off a new side of its stars, Justin Timberlake and Ben Affleck. Timberlake delves headfirst into the action genre here, which he only recently got into with the 2011 flop "In Time," while Affleck is switching gears from good guy leading man to terrifying millionaire villain.
Even Ben Schwartz and Anthony Mackie look to be playing out of type in the film, which is a nice change for the stars. "Runner, Runner" delves into the world of online gambling as Timberlake's character Richie Furst flies out of the United States and tries to illegally raise money to pay for his tuition. Affleck plays Ivan Block, the man Richie goes to work for, while Gemma Arterton plays Richie's love interest Rebecca Shafran. Mackie portrays the FBI agent hunting Richie and Ivan.

Check out the first trailer for “The Lincoln Lawyer” director Brad Furman’s latest, the gambling thriller “Runner, Runner”. Who knew online gambling would be so, er, dangerous? Well, at least for the guys running it. Or the guys wanting to get in on the running of the operation, like Justin Timberlake’s character in “Runner, Runner”. Fortunately for him, he’s got Gemma Arterton at his side. Unfortunately for him, Ben Affleck looks totally psycho in this one. Cool trailer all around, and a lot better than I had expected. Affleck seems to be playing the Jeremy Renner character from “The Town” (which Affleck wrote and directed), and 5, 10 years ago Affleck would definitely have been playing the Timberlake character. I guess when you’ve won an Oscar you can basically call your own shots. Princeton grad student Richie, believing he’s been swindled, travels to Costa Rica to confront online gambling tycoon Ivan Block. »

With such credible titles as "The Social Network" and the Coens' recent Cannes sensation "Inside Llewyn Davis" on his CV, Justin Timberlake's acting career has hit a certain plane of respectability, without any one performance making either critics or audiences stand to attention. Now comes "Runner, Runner" -- the first film since Andrew Niccol's botched 2011 sci-fi "In Time" to pitch Timberlake to us as a bona fide leading man. Director Brad Furman last brought us the diverting, attractive but none-too-remarkable thriller "The Lincoln Lawyer," and his latest appears to be, surprisingly enough, a diverting, attractive but none-too-remarkable thriller. What's the logical thing to do when you owe thousands and thousands of dollars in tuition and your school is about to kick you out? Play online poker, of course. That's what Justin Timberlake's character does in Runner, Runner, at least. And things are going great until he gets cheated at the last minute and loses everything. So what's the next logical thing to do? Hop on a plane and try to track down the guy who cheated you, of course. That's the setup for Runner, Runner, the new film from The Lincoln Lawyer director Brad Furman. Ben Affleck plays the poker-cheating crook who denied Timberlake his hard-earned college education, though it turns out he's got a much more elaborate operation than just cheating at online poker. He admires Timberlake's...

Ben Affleck is about to roll the dice by starring in another movie he didn't direct. Will Justin Timberlake be the J. Lo in this "Gigli"?
Hopefully not. The brand new trailer for "Runner, Runner," from "The Lincoln Lawyer" director Brad Furman, doesn't look too bad. Timberlake (perhaps in search of his Egot) plays the young guy seduced by the evils of the corporate world. Affleck's character comes along to be all Michael Douglas in "Wall Street" with him (yes, Affleck is now the age to play the mentor instead of the mentee) and give him some shady tutelage.
Back in the days after "Daredevil" (the director's cut actually isn't half-bad!), "Jersey Girl" (Kevin Smith diminished the amount of Jennifer Lopez originally intended to be included) and the dreaded "Gigli" (which Affleck has been game to joke about on "SNL" more than once, including just a month ago), Casey Affleck »

Lets say for a moment that you’re young and good with numbers. Imagine then that you’re also smart enough to get into a prestigious university. What happens next? You get saddled with massive student loans to pay for an high class education. The next step is to turn to gambling and waste away all that money, obviously. For the most part, The Lincoln Lawyer director Brad Furman’s latest movie deals with such a situation. Runner, Runner stars Justin Timberlake as a young man who tried and failed to pay off his post-secondary education with online poker winnings. With limited options remaining, he jets off to an ambiguous Caribbean island to investigate whether or not he was cheated, only to find himself wrapped up in the web of an online poker magnate (Ben Affleck) with a messy agenda and a propensity for bouts of crazy.
