John Cena may have taken his catchphrase “You can’t see me” quite literally while taking the stage at the 2024 Oscars, as he decided to walk out naked to present the Best Costume Award. However, the actor has now come clean about his lifelong deception while promoting his new film, Ricky Stanicky. The WWE star confessed in a recent interview, asserting that he has been living a lie and people can actually see him.

New to Prime Video on March 7, 2024, Ricky Stanicky is a throwback R-rated buddy comedy by director Peter Farrelly. The story involves a trio of friends who pull a childhood prank that backfires, prompting them to blame an imaginary culprit named Ricky Stanicky. Years later, the friends continue to use the made-up alias to avoid workplace trouble and cover up their sophomoric shenanigans.
Although Ricky Stanicky has drawn mediocre reviews for its crude raunchiness and overlong running time, the old-school buddy comedy boasts a tremendous cast of recognizable actors that elevates the material. For those wondering if the movie is worth a watch, perhaps the superb cast of characters will sway a decision one way or the other. As such, it's time to meet the characters featured in Ricky Stanicky.

Oscars 2024 just got a little Nsfw after John Cena walked onto the stage naked to present the Best Costume Design category. Cena’s point was to prove why costumes were so important and his Barbie co-star Margot Robbie couldn’t stop blushing and laughing at his hilarious antics. But fans also noticed how well-maintained the WWE star’s body was. His clearly demarcated abs were one of the highlights of this Oscar evening.
John Cena in Ricky Stanicky
In comparison, another WWE wrestler-turned-actor could never dream of having the new Oscar streaker’s abs. Dwayne Johnson, who is known for his muscular, well-toned body in Hollywood, cannot have a six-pack due to medical reasons.

The movie is set in Providence, Rhode Island and includes scenes in Atlantic City, New Jersey, but was filmed in different suburbs and areas in Melbourne, as well as the Avalon Airport in Greater Geelong, Australia. Various iconic Australian locations were used for filming scenes that take place in a casino, hospital, office building, and bowling alley.

After a bit of a career detour to win a couple Oscars, filmmaker Peter Farrelly is back with his first full-fledged comedy in a decade: Ricky Stanicky, starring Zac Efron and John Cena.
Now available to stream on Prime Video, the Amazon comedy follows Dean (Efron) and two lifelong friends (Jermaine Fowler and Andrew Santino) who invent an imaginary pal named Ricky Stanicky to blame for their various hijinks. When their romantic partners finally want to meet him, the buddies hire a struggling actor known as “Rock Hard” Rod (Cena) to become Ricky.
Ricky Stanicky returns Farrelly to the ribald comedy genre, which he and brother Bobby Farrelly became synonymous with in the 1990s, thanks to hits like Dumb and Dumber and There’s Something About Mary. Their most recent co-directing effort was 2014’s sequel, Dumb and Dumber To. Peter Farrelly has stayed busy as a solo director, helming 2018’s Green Book,...

Ricky Stanicky is a film starring Zac Efron. Jermaine Fowler, Andrew Santino and John Cena. It is directed by Peter Farrelly.
“Ricky Stanicky” is one of those comedies that comes into our lives without any notice of its filming, we pass by it barely paying attention and it leaves just as quickly as it arrived. In between, we have once again watched another movie about friends with jokes that are more or less funny depending on each person’s taste. While not particularly exciting, it entertains thanks to a very charming John Cena.

Peter Farrelly’s Ricky Stanicky is an R-Rated, penis-joke filled bro comedy about three childhood friends who invented a fictional friend to take the blame for a prank gone wrong. Really wrong – they set the guy’s house on fire. Kids might make up something like that to dodge responsibility, but adults buying into the idea that someone named “Ricky Stanicky” is at fault is much more of a stretch.
Yet these three pals use this made-up friend to take the blame all through their childhoods, but then director Peter Farrelly (and the script’s six writers) go further, and have the grown-up friends continue using the fictional Ricky Stanicky as someone to blame into adulthood.
Ok, it’s comedy, and disbelief gets suspended, but...

Ricky Stanicky is a largely goofy film that leans into broad comedy for much of its first two acts. Directed by Peter Farrelly -- one-half of the famous Farrelly Bros. alongside brother Bobby, the masterminds behind many an iconic comedy in the 2000s -- Amazon Prime's MGM Studios's Ricky Stanicky follows the misadventures of three loyal yet irresponsible friends. Straight-man Dean (Zac Efron), laid-back stoner Wes (Jermaine Fowler), and neurotic new father Jt (Andrew Santino) are forced to bring their imaginary scapegoat friend, Ricky Stanicky, to life when their lies go too far. They do this by hiring the drunken has-been actor "Rock Hard" Rod (John Cena), who gets too comfortable with his new life as "Ricky."

John Cena hit the orange carpet in a striped suit at the premiere of his new movie Ricky Stanicky held at Regal-e Walk on Tuesday (March 5) in New York City.
The 46-year-old actor was joined by his wife Shay Shariatzadeh for his latest movie premiere, his second this year, following Argylle in January.
John was also seen posing for photos alongside people dressed as different musicians that John impersonates as his character in the movie.
Also hitting the carpet were his co-stars Jermaine Fowler, Andrew Santino, Lex Scott Davis, Anja Savcic and Jeff Ross. Noticeably missing from the premiere was Zac Efron.
Here’s a synopsis for Ricky Stanicky: When three childhood best friends pull a prank gone wrong, they invent the imaginary Ricky Stanicky to get them out of trouble! Twenty years after creating this ‘friend,’ Dean, Jt, and Wes still use the nonexistent Ricky as a handy alibi for their immature behavior.

Ricky Stanicky releases to Prime on March 7, 2024.
Peter Farrelly is an oddly controversial filmmaker. I say oddly because we’re talking about the writer-director of very popular films like Dumb and Dumber or the highly awarded Green Book – I maintain my potentially hot take that it’s one of the best drama-comedies of the last decade – but the general opinion surrounding Farrelly isn’t as positive as I expected. Personally, his sense of humor fits perfectly with the type of comedy I appreciate most, so I was naturally excited for Ricky Stanicky.
The premise is similar to so many others that have captivated audiences all around the world – notably The Hangover saga. Ricky Stanicky is the title of the movie, but also of an imaginary friend invented by a trio of childhood friends as someone they could use to deflect the blame for their misbehavior or serve as an excuse to skip uninteresting,...

Comedy veteran Peter Farrelly shows very little experience with this puerile caper on Amazon about three friends concocting a wacky scheme
Imagine your husband, or your friend’s husband, or even your friend, has a pal you’ve never met named Ricky Stanicky. This invisible Stanicky character never visits, barely calls and seems to have about one crisis a year – testicular cancer, or a surprise return from charity work in Kenya, or rehab. This would probably be dubious at best, and baseline annoying. Then suppose this Stanicky calls with a medical crisis in the middle of a baby shower, taking two of the hosts away and causing one to miss the birth of his child. That would definitely be annoying.
Such is the baseline feeling of watching Ricky Stanicky, a new Amazon buddy comedy directed by genre veteran Peter Farrelly, which doesn’t have enough heart to overpower its puerile...

Peter Farrelly’s Ricky Stanicky concerns a trio of best friends who create an imaginary person to blame for their misdeeds. As the years go by, Dean (Zac Efron), Jt (Andrew Santino), and Wes (Jermaine Fowler) continue using “Ricky” as an excuse any time they want to skip, say, a family gathering or sneak out on a boys’ weekend. In such moments, they simply tell their significant others that Ricky really needs them right now.
That’s a solid enough setup for a film, a kind of coming-of-middle-age comedy in the vein of Jeff Tomsic’s Tag, where the characters’ commitment to a childhood tradition ends up jeopardizing their adult lives in the process. But where the antics of Tag’s characters effectively captured the stupid joy of acting like your younger self while hanging out with your oldest friends, Ricky Stanicky is stupid in a much less joyful way.

Icebreakers are probably not too necessary when it comes to people like Zac Efron or John Cena, who started this interview with IndieWire gushing over the previous interview they had just Zoomed into together: a roundtable with college journalists. But if someone wanted to ease into a conversation with the amiable movie stars, here’s the ticket: wrestling.

What happens when a decades-old white lie starts snowballing out of control? Well, Zac Efron, Jermaine Fowler, Andrew Santino, and John Cena are all about to find out in Peter Farrelly’s new comedy film, Ricky Stanicky, which shared its first trailer today.
Set to premiere on Prime Video on March 7th, Ricky Stanicky tells the story of three longtime friends who have invented an imaginary character, named “Ricky Stanicky,” to strategically blame their misbehavior on. When their latest Stanicky antic doesn’t go as planned, though, their families begin to question what’s really going on. Hoping to quell any suspicions, the three come up with a solution: hire an actor to pretend to be Stanicky.

It looks like many households tuned in to watch Zack Snyder’s critically divisive Rebel Moon: A Child of Fire over the holidays, with Netflix revealing it was their top movie over the last week. According to the Netflix Top 10, it pulled in a pretty big 34 million views, with an estimated 77 million hours watched. It easily beat the figure it claimed last week, 23,900,000 views, showing it had good staying power. So, how does it rank up against some other recent titles? It’s trailing Leave the World Behind, which is the service’s biggest hit in a long time, which chalked up 41 million views its first week and 44.9 million the second week, but it’s done much better than recent titles like Leo, Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget and David Fincher’s The Killer. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of hold it has in January. However,...

Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon is still No. 1 on Netflix.
In its first full week on the streamer, the first part of Snyder’s science-fiction epic racked up 34M views, making it first among the English-language film list from December 25 to 31 — and the most-watched title on the streamer. Add that to the 29M views that the film managed in its debut weekend, and Rebel Moon currently stands at around 63M views for 10 days of availability.
It’ll need to nearly triple that viewership in the next 80 or so days in order to make it among Netflix’s most popular films of all time. Rebel Moon is off to a fine start, though it’s likely the streamer was hoping for a stronger full week of viewership, considering there’s another installment and a director’s cut coming down the pipeline. For reference, Extraction 2, which is currently No. 10 on Netflix’s most popular film list,...

Ricky Dene Gervais is hands down one of the best comedians of our times. His words and voice are honest, and they need to be preserved because there is a lot of truth in the way he speaks about topical and general things around us. He has the habit of looking at the scene and blurting out the most honest opinion of it. We all could be thinking it, but Ricky would just say it out loud for many to chuckle or feel awkward about.
Ricky has had several television shows, stand-up specials, and movies, yet the man is unstoppable at the age of 60. To think that in the day and age of ‘tokenism,’ a person like him could still keep going and be relevant through the kind of jokes he writes and presents via this medium. “Succession” made sure to make history on it’s way out, earning a record-breaking nine nominations at the 2024 Golden Globes for its farewell season. Those final nominations helped HBO score 17 overall, the most of any network at the 81st ceremony; the network netted 16 nominations and its streaming service Max landed one. It won a neck-and-neck race with Netflix, which earned 15 total, with Apple TV+ just missing out on double digits with nine.
In addition to those nine “Succession” nominations, HBO had success with its other drama series “The Last of Us,” which earned three bids. “The Crown,” “Beef,” and “The Diplomat” led the way for Netflix, which also got a boost by dominating the new Stand-Up Comedian on Television category with five bids out of the six total slots. “Ted Lasso,” “The Morning Show,” and “Lessons in Chemistry” all contributed to the Apple TV+ tally.

You know the drill. Every streaming service takes certain movies and TV shows off their platform each month as new titles join their libraries. It can be a bit infuriating to realize the show you've putting off watching for months is now about to become unavailable, but it also gives you the best excuse to finally watch it — a ticking clock.
With the holidays approaching, many of us will be stuck indoors with family members desperately looking for a distraction from the awful political talk. What better way to stop the awkward conversation than by suggesting a fantastic movie or TV show before it leaves Netflix? Madeleine Gavin’s Sundance award-winning documentary “Beyond Utopia” has garnered the best documentary and best doc editing honors at the 24th annual Woodstock Film Festival.
The documentary, which was recently acquired by Roadside Attractions, is vying for Academy Award attention.
Using hidden camera footage, the doc follows the high-stakes journey that a handful of desperate families make in order to defect from North Korea — a country with the most brutal regime on earth, led by a dictator, Kim Jong-un.
Doc jurors included directors Barbara Kopple (“Harlan County USA”) Richard Rowley (“ Kingdom of Silence”) and Heidi Ewing (“Jesus Camp”).
“This year’s winner is an astonishingly intimate, white-knuckle thriller following families trying to escape North Korea,” the jurors said in a joint statement. “Stitched together from raw, first person footage, it is impossible not to feel the heart-breaking courage as a family clings to each other during a nighttime crossing of the Mekong River.

f it was the summer of the megawatt blockbusters “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer,” September has turned into a month of sequelitis with “The Nun 2,” “Equalizer 3” and “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3.” Even Kenneth Branagh’s “A Hunting in Venice,” is the third installment in the actor/director’s Hercule Poirot mystery series. It’s all a bit of a snooze. That wasn’t the case 70 years ago this month.
There were some oddball films that were released September, 1953 including “Cat-Women of the Moon” with Sonny Tufts and Marie Windsor and “The Sins of Jezebel” starring Paulette Goddard. But 70 years ago, audiences were introduced to a new wide-screen format and young actress who would become one of the biggest stars of the 1950s and ‘60s and Clark Gable returning to a role he originated in 1932.

Rickyisms, the hilarious mispronunciations and misuses of words by Trailer Park Boys' Ricky, are a main feature of the show and always funny. Ricky's frequent misunderstandings of common sayings, like "what comes around is all around," add to his comedic persona. Ricky's association of everything with cannabis, like wires with fire hazards, showcases his unique perspective and lack of understanding.
The best jokes are always simple, and maybe that's why Trailer Park Boys Ricky quotes are so hilarious. Rickyisms, a collection of lines attributed to the character, are a thing. Many great Ricky quotes consist of wrongly substituting a single word or just mispronouncing something, taking puns, metaphors, and wordplay to a whole other hilarious level. There's actually a term for this type of comedy or mistake, and it's called malapropism. Rickyisms have become a huge part of the character, a main feature of the show, and always surprisingly funny.

There was some skepticism going into My Friendly Neighborhood; the "evil kids entertainment mascots" genre has surprisingly become oversaturated in recent years due to the popularity of Five Nights at Freddy's. That issue could be one reason why My Friendly Neighborhood received little buzz during its lead up to launch, and that's truly a shame, because it provides a polished and engaging experience.
Developed by siblings John and Evan Szymanski, My Friendly Neighborhood is a survival horror game similar to Poppy Playtime. Both are founded on open gameplay that uses large interconnected levels, difficult puzzles, and various gadgets in order to survive. When it comes to gameplay, however, My Friendly Neighborhood plays less like Poppy Playtime and more like Resident Evil and Bioshock. With its unexpected but effective gameplay, puzzle design,...
