Top 10 Hollywood Actors Still In Business

16 December 2011 7:05 PM, PST | SoundOnSight | See recent SoundOnSight news »

Much of our lurid film community is of the belief that America’s acting prowess died with its classic stars like Marlon Brando, James Stewart, Humphrey Bogart, Katharine Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, and Grace Kelly. However, I’m here to argue that America’s actors are stronger than ever and can match up toe to toe with the likes of both Europe and Asia.

The list will be split into two parts: in part one, I delve into the modern world of Hollywood actors with actresses soon to follow in part two.

Part one: Top Ten Actors Working In Hollywood Today

Actor With The Most Potential To Hit It Big: Paddy Considine

Before I begin the list, I want to take a moment to discuss an actor whom I believe has enormous potential. While not American born, British actor Paddy Considine has been in his fair share of American films like In America, »

Ridley Scott’s Prometheus Poster

Ridley Scott’s Prometheus Poster

Prometheus is shaping up to be what I anticipate will become one of the most talked about movies of 2012. That is a tall order, considering The Hunger Games and The Avengers will also be due out next year. What makes Ridley Scott’s latest venture so intriguing? I’ll tell you as you enjoy the view at this new poster.

It is largely a photo of mysterious statues left by some space civilization as far as I can tell. The face is ominous, as our explorers will find. Speaking of which, the cast following Scott into the dark this time around are Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idriss Elba, Guy Pearce, Ben Foster and Patrick Wilson. It dropped my jaw to learn so many stars would be taking this voyage. It is also pretty remarkable that Charlize doesn’t get top billing, yes?

16 October 2011 8:40 AM, PDT | BuzzFocus.com | See recent BuzzFocus.com news »

Daryl Dixon has one thing on his mind in The Walking Dead: “It’s kill, or be killed.” If you had trouble warming up to Daryl in the first season, you’re going to find that changing this second season.  Norman Reedus (Boondock Saints, Pandorum) is going to win more fans this year as we’ll see his character continue to come out of his shell and come into his own. Daryl is such a rich character that Twd creator Robert Kirkman is looking to add him to his ongoing comic–an honor that Reedus said he will be nagging Kirkman about until he finds out when he will make his first appearance in the comic. Whether it’s his way with weapons, his inappropriate comments, his quest for his lost brother or inner demons, Daryl Dixon is the irresistible bad boy in the group. We caught up with »

Nicolas Cage and Nicole Kidman fall prey to home intruders in the thriller Trespass.

Trespass, a thriller film starring Nicolas Cage (The Sorcerer’s Apprentice) and Nicole Kidman (Rabbit Hole) and directed by Joel Schumacher (Twelve), centers on a wealthy husband and wife (Cage and Kidman) who are taken hostage by four tough home intruders looking for cash. Not surprisingly (as we’ve seen before in movies involving volatile teams of bad guys), betrayal and deception begin to unravel the criminal camp, leading to even more nastiness and violence.

Co-starring Ben Mendelsohn (Animal Kingdom), Cam Gigandet (Pandorum) and Liana Liberato (Trust), Trespass has been receiving only so-so advance buzz from online critics. According to reports, the production was disrupted at one point when Cage abandoned the project weeks before the start of principal photography, allegedly insisting on switching »

First Look: Kryptonian Villainess Faora on Man of Steel Set

24 August 2011 2:53 AM, PDT | WorstPreviews.com | See recent Worst Previews news »

Today we have the first photos of Kryptonian villainess Faora, played by either German actress Antje Traue (Pandorum) or her stunt double, on the Illinois set of the upcoming "Superman" reboot, called "Man of Steel." The photos are a bit blurry, but it's interesting that Traue will be wearing a real costume, while Michael Shannon's General Zod costume will be CG and added later in post-production. Check out the photos below, which feature Faora, Superman, and possibly Zod. It looks like stunt doubles are being used, but this confirms that Superman will not be wearing red trunks. History of Faora: Faora Hu-Ul was a serial killer born on the planet Krypton. A self-professed "man-hater," she targeted only male Kryptonians and ran a concentration camp where she kept other Kryptonians as slaves. Faora Hu-Ul claimed over twenty-three lives before she was arrested. Faora was sentenced to over three-hundred years of »

Kryptonian Villainess Faora Shows Up on the Man of Steel Set

24 August 2011 12:18 AM, PDT | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

Here’s your first good (albeit a bit blurry) look at “Pandorum” actress Antje Traue as “Man of Steel’s” Kryptonian villainess Faora on the film’s set, all dressed up with no place to go. Well, that’s not exactly true. Potential Spoilers Below I also believe that the man in the motion-capture suit walking alongside Traue is Michael Shannon, playing General Zod in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Superman reboot. Or it could be a random extra. But probably Shannon. Maybe. So is what we’re seeing here Faora and Zod teaming up to take on Superman (Henry Cavill) in the small town of Smallville? Of course, this explains all the wreckage from the set we’ve seen in the past. A battle of the superpowered aliens will just about ruin some good storefronts, don’t you know. It could also be what took Superman’s home for a little spin. »

Ben Foster joining Ridley Scott's Prometheus?

3 July 2011 5:14 AM, PDT | TotalFilm | See recent TotalFilm news »

Prometheus, Ridley Scott's sorta-prequel to Alien, is shaping up to be one of the most exciting movies in production, and there's a rumour doing the rounds at JoBlo that Ben Foster has joined the cast. The film already boasts a raft of talented actors, including Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba and Michael Fassbender. Foster is something of a divisive actor, with his ker-ay-zee schtick proving a bit wearing at times. His presence could also bring back unwelcome memories of substandard space shocker Pandorum.
