Wolfman officially moves; Case 39 delayed too *Updated*

9 December 2008 1:03 PM, PST | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

We just got the news about Case 39...

Universal just sent along word that The Wolfman has officially moved out of its previously announced April 3, 2009 release slot. We first broke the news of the delay here.

The Benicio Del Toro-starring, Joe Johnston-directed remake of the studio’s classic monster movie will now open November 6. No details about the reasons for the switch are forthcoming; a couple of weeks ago, Warner Bros. shifted Richard Kelly’s The Box from March to the same date, so it’s likely that one will move again. Look for the beginning of our magazine coverage of The Wolfman in Fango #279, on sale this month, and see the movie’s official website here.

In addition, Fango just got the news that Case 39, which has been bouncing around Paramount’s schedule for a couple of years now, is now out of its most recent »

The Weekly Wrap-Up: October 18-24, 2008

24 October 2008 11:18 PM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

The week of October 18-24, 2008, was all about trailers, trailers, and more trailers -- for some highly anticipated and much discussed re-imaginings of classic genre films along with quite a few promising indies. And we got posters. Lots of new posters were revealed over the past seven days as well.

But first up is info on a pair of horror/sci-fi hybrids. Bill Malone describes his upcoming Phoenix Dust as a "sweeping sci-fi with kickass babes and gang-banger robots" while the somewhat Cube-sounding Pandorum stars Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster as crew members who awaken on a spaceship with no knowledge of who they are or why they’re there.

Two of this Woman's favorite things are award shows and film festivals, and both are covered in this week's Wrap-Up. The 2008 Scream Awards went down on October 18th, and the list of winners can be found right here. People have »

First Look: Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster in Sci-Fi Thriller Pandorum

19 October 2008 4:48 PM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

I would've expected an intense deep space sci-fi thriller with an impressive cast to have more buzz, but this is the first time I've even heard about this. Pandorum is directed and co-written by German filmmaker Christian Alvart, who just made the leap to Hollywood after directing the 2005 horror flick Antibodies. Starring Dennis Quaid, Ben Foster, and Cam Gigandet, Pandorum is about a pair of crew members aboard a spaceship that wake up with no knowledge of their mission or their identities. Courtesy of this week's Entertainment Weekly, we've got our first look at two rather interesting stills from the film, as well as a poster made to sell it, all adding together as our first introduction to this oddly appealing sci-fi film. Quaid explains: "There's nobody around, we can't get anybody on the radio. We can't even recall what our mission is." The second photo shows Ben Foster waking »

Alvart's Pandorum Finds Cash

6 August 2008 12:12 AM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

After finally finishing Case 39, which seems like it’s been being made for years now, Antibodies helmer Christian Alvart won’t have to wait for the cash to come in to jump right into his next project, the Dennis Quaid/Ben Foster thriller Pandorum.

Variety reports that Pandorum was one of 10 film projects that the German funding organization known as the Ffa has given money to, to the tune of $600,000. All right, so probably not enough to make the sci-fi/thriller movie right, but it sure is a good start.

In case you had forgotten, Pandorum follows two crewman who awaken aboard their spaceship with no memories and soon discover that they’re headed right for something that could threaten all of humanity. The movie kicks off shooting in Berlin on Monday. Stay tuned for details as they come in!
