HBO is casting a pretty wide net when it comes to filling roles in its upcoming adaptation of "Westworld," as evidenced by this latest word that X-Men franchise star James Marsden plus seven other notable actors have just signed on.
Per THR's The Live Feed, Marsden will play Teddy Flood, a mysterious new arrival to a small frontier town. He quickly proves both his charm - and his talent with a revolver. His pursuit of a local beauty launches him on a dark journey.
Inspired by Michael Crichton's 1973 film of the same name, the project, which hails from Jj Abrams' Bad Robot Productions, Jerry Weintraub Productions, and Kilter Films, is billed as "a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin."

HBO’s reimagining of the 1973 Michael Crichton science fiction-western-thriller, Westworld, has added a few new cast members. The show, which is set in a western-themed amusement park populated by gun slinging androids that will (obviously) never break down and try to kill all the humans, stars Sir Anthony Hopkins and Even Rachel Wood (The Wrestler) and is Executive Produced by J.J. Abrams and Jonathan Nolan (Person of Interest); Nolan also wrote the pilot and will direct some of the episodes.
Additionally, HBO has announced that James Marsden will play Teddy Flood, a new arrival to frontier town; Eddie Rouse (Pandorum) will play a Native American card dealer and smuggler; Angela Sarafyan will play Clementine, ...

Martin Moszkowicz, who heads up film and TV production at Germany’s Constantin Film and is its exec board chairman, recently has been getting a lot of calls from L.A. talent agents inquiring after Teutonic helmers.
“There is strong demand for German directors who are able to handle movies on a budget, which today becomes more and more important,” says Moszkowicz. “They are used to limited production resources, and are well-trained and well-experienced in teamwork.”
Teamwork isn’t normally associated with filmmakers from Germany, where previous generations were more inclined toward the auteur system. But Moszkowicz says there’s been a shift in attitude among the emerging generation of directors.
“There is a bigger emphasis on working together in a team,” Moszkowicz says. “We are pushing the film schools heavily to encourage them to do that because I really feel that given the challenges we have in our business it »

The first casting announcements for Robert Kirkman’s Air have been released today with Norman Reedus and Djimon Hounsou signing on the dotted line. Air tells the story of two custodians (Reedus and Hounsou) who struggle to hold onto their sanity living in an underground bunker with cryogenically frozen people meant to re-populate society
Fans of ‘The Walking Dead’ will know all about Robert Kirkman; he’s the mastermind behind the AMC dramatic thriller that seems to leave fans breathless after every episode. Seems he is keeping things in ‘The Walking Dead’ family as Reedus has been playing the role of Daryl Dixon in the hit show since 2010. The actor has also held small roles in Robert Redford’s The Conspirator and horror Pandorum alongside Dennis Quaid but it is his role in Twd that has put him into the limelight.

Coming from the producers of Paranormal Activity, Insidious, and The Iceman, Fear Paris is described as "an ambitious new film of unique interconnected stories exploring the dark underbelly of the city of lights". After movies like V/H/S and The ABCs of Death, I’m all for horror anthologies abiding by a particular theme. There’s something inherently fun about such a cornucopia of treats, as different directors populate one single film with so many distinctive styles and traits – as long as the segments set the stage for such fun. I’ll always give a horror anthology a try, from Chillerama to The Theatre Bizarre, which is why I’m happy to say we’ve got an exciting anthology coming our way with Fear Paris.
Newly announced, Fear Paris will join the likes of Joe Dante (Gremlins), Xavier Gens (Hitman/Frontier(s)), and Timo Vuorensola (Iron Sky), as they explore the horrific underworld of France’s iconic capital city. Here’s the full press release, accompanied by a tonal teaser below:

Since Pandorum, Christian Alvart has been hard at work on the German film Bank Lady, a 60s based period flick that might seem outside of the horror director's wheelhouse. But this stylish, swingin' first international trailer proves Alvart's got the chops for anything.
Bank Lady is based on the true story of Gisela Werler, Germany's first woman bank robber who suddenly transformed from a shy wallflower into a notorious bank robber in the 1960s.
Gisela Werler is 30, single, works in a wallpaper factory, and lives with her parents in modest circumstances. A humdrum middle-class life, no different than that of countless other young women in West Germany in the 1960s. But she has a dream: Capri. And it finally seems within reach when she meets the charming Hermann, [Continued ...] »
