NBC Orders Dramas ‘Constantine,’ ‘Mysteries of Laura,’ Comedy ‘A to Z’

NBC is filling out its 2014-15 season lineup, giving series orders to dramas “Constantine” and “The Mysteries of Laura” and comedy “A to Z.”

All three projects hail from Warner Bros. TV.

Constantine” (pictured above), starring Matt Ryan, is an adaptation of the DC Comics property “Hellblazer.”

Daniel Cerone and David S. Goyer exec produce the fantasy vehicle about occult master and demon hunter John Constantine, who is tasked with defending humanity from the forces of evil. Harold Perrineau Jr., Lucy Griffiths and Charles Halford co-star.

Debra Messing starrer “Mysteries of Laura” is an adaptation of a Spanish format. It’s written and exec produced by Jeff Rake along with Greg Berlanti. Messing plays a homicide detective with a messy personal life. Laz Alonso, Josh Lucas and Janina Gavankar also star.

On Tuesday, NBC handed series orders to three drama pilots: “Allegiance,” “Odyssey” and “State of Affairs.”

One day, a freight train derails and crashes into his back garden, unleashing a whirlwind of events as John’s alter ego is discovered and he must invent a story involving a secret marriage in order to maintain his secret.
