- Chuck (Zachary Levi) is in love -- but not with Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski). No, the geek's old gal pal Jill (Jordana Brewster) is back in town and had little trouble stealing Chuck's heart. As we open "Chuck Versus the Fat Lady," Bartowski is busting onto the roof of the Buy More, where Jill waits on a blanket. The two engage in a passionate kiss until Chuck notices Casey (Adam Baldwin) is watching on a surveillance camera. While Chuck freaks out, Sarah appears sad.
The general (Bonita Friedericy) appears on another screen. Jill's dead boss might have left a list of the rogue CIA agents in his hotel room, which is currently an FBI crime scene. "You need to take the Intersect in off the record and see if he can flash," the general explains. "Perhaps Chuck can discover where the list is hidden."
Back at the Buy More, Morgan (Joshua Gomez) arrives with a new illegal toy: a device that can bypass any copyright protection and rip video games. Hmm. Think we'll see that device again later? Nah, you're right: probably not.
Chuck prepares for the upcoming mission, which will require him to spend the night in a hotel with his cover GF, Sarah. Jill, the real GF, is less than pleased. "So what's this Sarah like?" she asks. "Is she pretty?" Chuck hems and haws. "There's nothing about this job that is glamorous or sexy," he says. Sure enough, the two walk inside to find Sarah dressed in thigh-high leather boots and fishnet stockings. Oops.
Chuck and Sarah, dressed as a high-end escort, check in to the hotel. Casey explains the pair will sneak into the crime scene through the ventilation ducts. Moments later, Chuck is wedged in a duct like a geeky sardine. His phone bumps against the wall and accidentally dials Jill. She picks up to hear Chuck and Sarah discussing their cover story. "It shouldn't take us more than hour to have sex from start to finish," Chuck says. Jill is horrified.
Back at the Buy More, Emmett (Tony Hale) makes nicey-nice with Morgan in an attempt to get dirt on Chuck. "Wait a minute," Morgan says. "You're questioning Chuck's patriotism toward Buymoria?"Emmett is undeterred. He WILL catch Chuck at, well, whatever.
Chuck, Sarah and Casey, meanwhile, enter the hotel room via the ceiling vent. Before you can say "Intersect moment," Chuck spies an antique box and has an Intersect moment! Suddenly, GUN SHOTS! A rouge agent (Mark Pellegrino) has shot two FBI men outside the door. Inside the room, Chuck, Casey and Sarah hustle back into the vent.
Sometime later, the team is safely in their hotel room . Before you can say "The Da Vinci Code," Chuck works a puzzle on the box's lid -- quite proud of himself for recognizing the Fibonacci code. The box snaps opens and releases a pink powder into the room! Sarah and Chuck tear off their clothes, jump into shower and scrub frantically.
And wouldn't you know it? The bell boy has sent Jill up to the room. She opens the door to see the two faux lovers soaking wet in their underwear. "I knew it," she says. Chuck protests but his old/new girlfriend is gone. Casey returns and, after running a test on the substance, reveals the substance was "powdered fruit punch, dumbass."
Back at the Buy More, Lester (Vik Sahay) and Jeff (Scott Krinsky) are panicking. Emmett has threatened to suspend the regular back-room poker game if Morgan doesn't spill some dirt on Chuck. Just then, Jill enters the store to confront Chuck. Morgan is shocked. "Oh my God, it's Jill!" he says. "That's Chuck's old college girlfriend." Emmett seems to think this is news he can use, although we have no idea how.
Returning to plot A, Chuck has explained the situation to Jill and she thinks the fruit punch might be a clue left by her old boss. Our geek spy immediately takes his new gal into the yogurt shop hideout -- much to the consternation of Casey. Did we say consternation? We meant rage. "Bartowski, it's not a secret location if you invite people over," he fumes. Jill quickly defuses the situation by offering to examine the powder.
One "CSI"-like montage later, she discovers it's Hi-C brand -- the good stuff. Chuck theorizes the C represents a musical note since the powder exploded out of a music box. Sure enough, Casey sings the note ("What?" he asks. "I wasn't hatched") and a pair of opera glasses spring out. It turns out Casey used to be a choirboy. Chuck has another Intersect moment! "This is a key to a very super secret lock box," Chuck says. But where's the lock? "The question isn't 'Where's the lock?'" he tells Casey. "But 'Where's the opera?'"
So we head to the opera hall, where Chuck and Jill quickly discover a small silver lock in the floor of the balcony. Inside is another box. "Bingo," Chuck says. Casey opens the box to find blocks with musical notes written on them -- not to mention what looks like a ticking time bomb. "It's not a bomb," Jill says. "It's a puzzle we need to figure out before the time runs out."
Sure enough, Chuck's smarty GF moves the blocks to match the notes in the opera's score. She finishes moments before the clock runs out -- and a flash drive springs out of the box. Jill and Chuck kiss in celebration, much to Sarah's chagrin.
Later, the pair continue kissing in Chuck's bedroom. "I can't do this," Chuck says, gesturing toward his computer. Sure enough, Casey is watching. Frustrated, Chuck hatches a secret plan. The next day, Chuck and Jill drive down the highway while Casey and Sarah frantically search for their walking, talking Intersect. "Twerp's gone off the grid," Casey says. Meanwhile, someone is following Chuck and Jill on their getaway weekend -- and he looks exactly like the guy who offed the FBI guys. Sure enough, the creepy guy holds a gun to Jill's head, demanding the list and telling Chuck to meet him at the opera house later that night to make the exchange.
Chuck rushes back to yogurt-shop headquarters to find Casey waiting. "Wait here and don't move," Casey tells Chuck. "You've done enough damage already." Chuck disagrees. He snatches the flash drive and takes off running. "Walker, shoot him!" Casey yells. But Sarah can't do it. "I'm sorry," Chuck says. "I have to. It's Jill."
Cut to Chuck sprinting through the Buy More. He stops short at Morgan's locker and seems to remember something. Hmm. Wonder what it might be ...
Second later, Chuck arrives at the empty opera house. Creepy guy emerges with Jill in tow. Suddenly, Casey appears, gun drawn. But wait, there's more! A sharp shooter in the balcony has his gun trained on Chuck. Before you can say "Reservoir Dogs," Sarah leaps onto the balcony and sends the sniper flying.
Chuck winks at Casey and slides the flash drive to the creepy guy, who promptly stomps on it. "Fulcrum would rather you not know who we have inside the government," he says. He releases Jill and runs backstage. Chuck and Jill embrace and Sarah looks sad. Again.
Outside the opera, Chuck presents a copy of the list to Casey. "Q36 game copier," he explains. "Thank goodness Morgan is too cheap and unethical to pay for his own video-game entertainment." Casey is impressed -- and that's not an easy thing to do.
The next morning, Emmett is hung over from drinking wine coolers the night before during the back-room poker game. Morgan takes the efficiency expert aside and shows him a video. On the tape, a drunken Emmett cavorts inside Big Mike's office. "Oh man, you do not look good," Morgan says. The deal: Emmett lays off Chuck and Morgan buries the tape.
Back at headquarters, Casey runs the flash drive through the computer. "It's just a matter of time before we learn the identities of Fulcrum agents," he says. Before you can say "Sleeping with the Enemy," Jill's name and mug appear on the file. OH NO! She is a double agent! Moments later, the agents burst into Chuck's bedroom. No Jill. No Chuck.
What's become of our lovestruck geek spy? Stay tuned ...
