I didn’t think I would have to insult the intelligence of our readers by pointing out a very simple fact, but based on the first comment we received, I guess I should make something clear. This is a list of our favourite soundtracks of 2011. We are currently working on a list of the best original scores, which should be posted sometime within the week. Let us know if you think we left out any soundtracks you would recommend. Enjoy!
10 – Young Adult
One of the themes of Jason Reitman’s upcoming film Young Adult, is the idea of being stuck in the past, and trying to relive your glory days, and so it’s no surprise that the soundtrack to the film is loathed with 1990s alt-rock cuts. Due December 6th via Rhino Records, the fifteen-track disc features the Replacements, the Lemonheads, Dinosaur Jr., Teenage Fanclub, Cracker, 4 Non Blondes, Veruca Salt and many more. »

Few mainstream actresses’ have suffered such an almighty fall as Renee Zellweger over the past five years. After becoming a genuine Hollywood star with her career defining role as Bridget Jones ten years ago (picking up an Oscar nomination in the process, rare for a romantic comedy) she then went on to become a heavyweight of the Awards season fare – picking up another nom for the musical Chicago and then finally winning the Golden statue for Cold Mountain in the two years that followed.
She followed that up with another great turn in Cinderella Man (2005) but then the wheels suddenly came off for her, leading to some dreadful choices which she has not been able to recover from. Her starring vehicle Miss Potter (a drama about the famous children’s author) tanked in the U.S. to a $3 million domestic gross, as did the risky supporting turns in the non-mainstream »

Danielle Shields looks at ten youngsters destined to be the next big thing...
With the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 bringing an end to the magical franchise, it is clear that just like its three main protagonists, thousands of children have grown up with the series and are now progressing into adulthood. Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson were a mere eleven years old when they were thrown head first into media chaos with being named the stars of the future. A decade later and it's now safe to say that the prediction has come true with one of the trio moving to stage, the other sticking with the big screen and the last moving into modelling. Now, it is time to meet the young actors and actresses who have taken their rightful place as the new rising stars. Some have already created a »
Before he once again dons the tight-fitting yellow uniform of the dashing and daring James T. Kirk, Captain of the USS Enterprise, in Star Trek 2 (working title) or becomes the fourth actor—after Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck—to bring Tom Clancy's heroic political character to life in the as-yet-untitled fifth Jack Ryan movie adaptation, rising actor Chris Pine might be playing a more "unsavory" character in a new movie from director Jeff Nichols (Take Shelter) and producers Sarah Green (Tree of Life) and Aaron Ryder (My One and Only) titled Mud.
According to the La Times, "a source close to the project" revealed that Pine is in talks to star in the coming-of-age drama as the title character, a fugitive of the law who needs the help of two 14-year-old boys to help him get off of an island in the Mississippi (Great Expectations meets The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, »

Just out on DVD: Casino Jack, Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader, I Love You Philip Morris, Little Fockers, The Tacqwacores, Tron Legacy and the final season of Friday Night Lights (yes! can't wait).
Which went on your queue immediately?
And finally, I kid you not, "The Renée Zellweger Collection" has hit stores. I always find these three-pack "collections" so bizarre as they're usually highly unrepresentative of someone's career. The films featured in this one are Me Myself And Irene, Down With Love, and My One And Only. I guess Down With Love is totally "a Renée Zelwegger picture" but the other two? Well, I haven't seen My One and Only so I shouldn't say that. Have you?

Renée Zellweger is on a box office losing streak, the likes of which we haven't seen, from a formerly celebrated star and Oscar nominee, in a long time. Her last few starring vehicles--"New In Town," "My One And Only," "Case 39"--have been dead-on-arrival at the box office and you'd have to go way, way back to her "Bridget Jones" pictures to find anything resembling success (yes, "Cinderella Man" earned lots of critical acclaim but it failed at the box office and she is not the selling point of that film either). And unfortunately for the actress, the rut will continue.… »
