***SPOILERS*** Freelance photographer Mike Kovac, Charles Bronson, uses his sturdy Leica rang-finder camera to crack a shake down ring involved in blackmailing parents of adopted children.
It's when former ditch digger and now millionaire businessman Barney O'Neal, Hugh Sanders, is shaken down for $20,000.00 in keeping the secret of his adopted daughter Terry's, Susan Crane, birth mother's true identity private that he contacts Kovac to get the goods as well as photos of those blackmailing him. With Robert J.Willings, Gregory Morton, doing the blackmailing it took a lot to keep the mad as hell father Berney O'Neal from ringing his neck with Kovac posing as his personal Polish, and non-English speaking, masseur there in the room ready to stop him from doing it. Kovac was also able to get a candid photo of Terry's so-called mom, Darnele Fields, who by the sight of her looking like she just stepped out of an all night ginmill was more of an embarrassment in being her true mother, and thus being paid off by Berney to keep quite about it, then anything else that Willings can use to shake him down with!
***SPOILERS*** Finding out through photos he took of her, the shake-down diva, in different identities as well as wigs Kovac exposed the shake-down racket she's part of to the police who are a bit shy, by not having rock solid evidence, in cracking! That's only after Terry embarrassed by the sight of her true "Moma" revealed that her pop was already willing to pay off Willings in order to keep everything he had about her and her "mom" from being made public. It's when the pinch was about to be executed by Kovac and the police that Terry's so-called "Mom",in order to save her neck, ratted out the entire blackmail operation leaving the by now master blackmailer Willings to make his unplanned,in not expecting to be pinched, getaway! With him later being tackled and almost knocked cold by Kovac when the fence he was trying to scale turned out to be a bit too difficult, like Mike Kovac, for him to overcome.
