‘Age of Adaline’ Director Lee Toland Krieger Set for Blackfriars Massacre Movie

Lakeshore Entertainment has hired “The Age of Adaline” director Lee Toland Krieger for “Blackfriars,” a comedy about the 1978 massacre in Boston that left five dead.

Producers are Lakeshore Entertainment’s Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi, along with Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis from Hasbro’s Allspark Pictures. No cast is currently in place.

Blackfriars,” written by Chris Bremner, made the 2015 Blacklist. It centers on the true story of a Boston police officer and a con man-turned-witness, who become unlikely friends hiding out in Bermuda, ultimately perpetrating a con on the Boston Da they were tasked to serve.

The massacre, believed to be over cocaine, claimed four criminals and former television investigative news reporter John Kelly. The shooters who carried out the murders have never been caught.

The Age of Adaline” starred Blake Lively as a woman who stopped ageing after an accident at the age of 29. Lakeshore produced “Adaline,” which grossed $65 million worldwide. »

Well, the first verdict is in on "The Divergent Series: Allegiant" from the Hollywood trades, and the waning Ya franchise is going out with all the excitement of a deflating balloon. Variety has called it "downright ridiculous," THR says it "won’t convert any nonbelievers," while The Wrap notes that the sequel "brings back the same cast of characters to do more or less exactly what they did in the previous films." ‘Divergent: Ascendant’ Lands New Director

Following director Robert Schwentke's exit from “The Divergent Series: Ascendant,”, Lionsgate has tapped “Age of Adaline” helmer Lee Toland Krieger as its new director.

By acting quickly, production is still on track to start this spring in order to meet next year’s June 9 release date. Sources say Schwentke’s departure involved the helmer needed a break and did involve any pre-production troubles between him and the studio.

The third film in the Woodley franchise, “The Divergent Series: Allegiant” is scheduled to open on March 18. The first two films — “Divergent” and “Insurgent” — have grossed nearly $600 million worldwide after opening in the late March slot.

The pic stars Shailene Woodley, Miles Teller, Theo James and Naomi Watts with Red Wagon Entertainment’s Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher producing.
